I too like those Axis Hiro 18x8.5 +35. But don't like 225/40/18 on those as it seems undersized. But if 245/35/18 will rub then there is no point to get 8.5" wheels.
You don't think it rubbed due to 45's instead of 40's ?

+40; after I brought my car back to let them know they were rubbing, they showed me the boxes for the wheels and they were marked for 40 ET.
+35 will rub for sure!
+45 would not rub on 8.5 but it would be very close; +48 is most definitely safe.
I know it rubbed due to offset and not due to profile because I developed a half millimeter deep groove in my sidewall, right across the text, after ~500 miles of driving. I even know where in my fender the contact was occuring, because the rubbing/grazing only occurred occasionally with the steering wheel turned a particular distance while driving over bumps or dips mid-turn.
