ive been thinking the same thing, looked into it..and it would cost as much as it cost me to buy my TC. haha

 

A totalled RAV4 isn't that expensive, but getting all the 4WD guts out of one and into the tC would be a sizeable challenge.

What year Rav 4 are we talking about? Also what components can you just port over, the gearbox and rear end? It probably not a straight swap and may need some major fabrication, I assume.

 

It'll be easy. Simply cut the floor out of your car and set it on a four wheel drive luv truck frame.

 

would't the awd make the car even havier? are there any coupes out there that are AWD except the GTR.

As i have asked before in other topics. How would the handling be after you do a custom awd, since the weight ratio from front to rear is 60/40 as Lance has mentioned in pasted topics.

 

Just grab yourself an S10 blazer frame/suspension. Take all the suspension off your tC, grab a welder and just weld the body to the new frame, and throw a body kit on it to cover everything up! Bam!!! 4wd is now yours!

That will all change, and as far as AWD coupes... Celica Alltrac comes to mind. A few Carrera's are AWD.

In summation, there are plenty of AWD coupes in the world... just not advertised like crazy and most people can't afford 'em or they are real old.

 

How about an old AMC Eagle, those things rocked!

 

I do remember that a lot of you real young guys are going to have no idea what an AMC Eagle is. Well it was a 4x4 car developed in the late 70s to early 80s. They weren't realiable, but were excellent for dropping a small block motor in and blowing the crap off some peeps. Well it came in two versions a couple and a station wagon, here is the coupe:

 

I actually owned an AMC AMX of the same vintage ('79). It was a POS for other reasons, but it wasn't unreliable. It had the AMC six in it. Definitely a slow car with spooky handling.

Anything is possible but it all comes down to if you have to money......Its really expensive like $5,000 or more......you have to add a Driveshaft and rear differental and a lot of other stuff....its would be a headache

 

i don't think i'd go all wheel drive on a tC. i would rather do a RWD conversion and drop in the JZ motor foun in the J-spec Soarer or Chaser.

 

A JZ engine? There are NO tranaxles for one, and it won't fit in the engine bay. WTF????

 

indeed id much prefer a rwd tc than anything. i cant stand fwd cars, never have, never will. but the tc's pros are so much that i can DEAL with fwd FOR NOW

step 1:go to a place the buys and sells cars

step 2:sell car

step 3:go buy a WRX or somethign with all wheel drive stock

step 4:give yourself a pat on the back for saving yourself a big head ache

 

o yea, a good frame and other things might be a golf r32 but its a more expensive car so it sort of seems a waste

 

R32's aren't AWD!? ...are they? Doesn't Audi have some sort of AWD coupe too? I'm sure Volvo as well. AWD is overrated! Why exactly would you want the tC AWD? What advantages would that give you? It would make an already heavy coupe, even heavier. I doubt it will help with power either. NA AWD is WEAK!
