will a snowboard fit?

I know it's a lil early for the ski season....buuut, just wondering will a snowboard fit with the back seats folded down, but with BOTH front seats still up, and with a decent amount of leg room for both front driver and passenger?

Basically, from the back of the trunk, to the back of the front passenger seat, is it at least 65 inches or so? (my snowboard is 162.) I would do the measurement my self, but I forgot my tape measure when I went down to the dealer

Or is it even possible to just fold down one of the back seats and still fit a snowboard diagonally? (Maybe do a 3 person ski trip?)

Thanks for anyone who checks for me

p.s. I saw the post on the ski racks, but I don't want to shell out another $225.

a 9ft surfboard fits.......so a snowboard will also! - t
Yeah, T. But not without folding down the passenger seat.

Right?
yea,
a snowboard wont fit without folding down the rear seats:) but you could jsut fold one down and stack all three up......and still have enough room for 3 passengers! - t

That's good to know. I didn't think you'd squeeze them in without dropping the front passenger seat.
Yea, im a HUGE snowboarder, i teach at a local Resort, i have a roof rack but i dont think that thats gunna work........... and they will fit in the back, if i move my sub box over....... i hope....... and your snowboard isnt 162 INCHES, its 162 CM

The only thing I worry about is that the metal edges might start 'cutting' through the fabric of the interior and backs of the front seat.. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I've had that happen to my 'rip-stop' nylon coats, and a 159 comes real close to the front seats -- It would suck to have slice marks in the back of the seat, know what I'm sayin? I'm trying to figure out an easy way to use the cargo anchors to strap the board in so it won't move.

Let me know if I'm just paranoid!

I could fit by 160 rossi in my 92 celica. I will try to fit the rossi w/o folding the seats. It fits purfect with the left back seat down. Just stack the boards for the ride and bungie cord them if you are worried. At the moment their are great deals, at least in Northen CA, on snowboard cases/bags which will prevent your edge from digging in. pd. 15$(normally 75$) for a burrton case to tote by board around. BTW, if you change your rims from the stock 17, it will be very difficult to find chains/cables that will fit your tire without rubbing the inner wheel well. Just food for thought.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that! Thanks!

I got to thinking, and if you can't fit it without folding the front passenger seat down, then how about putting the snowboard beteween the driver's and passenger's seat, where the elbow rest thingy is? That's the way me and my pop always transported stuff that was too long to fit from home depot.

Yeah, I know it's in centimeters,
I did the conversion :approx. 65 inches. (1st post) a 162 inch snowboard would be HUUUUGGEEEE!!!

Anyways, thanks for checking that out for me guys. Cuz that would suck if I had to fold down the front passneger seat, and have my passenger sit behind me

But I'm guessing a 4 person trip is kinda outta the question? (left back seat folded down for snowboards...and people in driver, front, middle back, and right back? Hehe, It would be cramped!!)

Pakman --- Sweet, if your 160 fits behind the driver seat with back seat folded, I'm sure an extra 2 cm won't make a difference

K_splay --- Like Pakman said, bags for boards are pretty cheap. I think I got my burton bag for like $20 or so. But, before I had the bag, I just used old bath room towels, and wrapped up the end of the board.

whosthatrussian --- yeah, that would definately work, but would it get in the way of the driver / passenger...or block your arm from shifting gears?

oh yeah, forgot the jeep was an auto. Oh well. Yeah, last weekend I took a road trip with my gf and my best friend and his gf, and the car was packed. The trunk barely shut with all our crap in the back, so I wouldn't even try snowboards and four people...thats just unrealistic. I think it's definitely doable with 3 or 2 though.
I just tested it... my 158 World Industries board fits between the hatch and the back of my seat just fine with just half of the back seat down. So a 162 should be no problem at all... being only a 4cm difference, thats about 1.75" difference.
As everybody else said a snowboard will fit, however I was on another forum and noticed that Yakima makes racks for the tC already. The only probblem with the rack is the sunroof shouldn't be open when you have it on. However if you are snowboarding I don't think that would be an issue.
Check it out at www.yakima.com.

lol...good point. I'm probably gonna get a ski/bike/snowboard rack, if they have one....or maybe just strap stuff to the Jeep like we've been doing last few years. 4wd is a better option also.
