Had to delete the other posts.. please re-post.. sorry..

so far we had on the other post.. an automatic and vin 4413 i believe.. just to keep track.. wanted to get this all in one place..
Well im puttin 4 12s in a manual, so ill tell yall how many rattles a tC can have at one time, once i get it. lmao:)
10458 is my production number. The moonroof hasn't been a huge problem yet. It does rattle on occasion, but not enough to bother me. The popping noise has happened to me maybe twice.

What I have found is a screeching noice under the driver seat, which I thought at first was the moonroof. It makes the noise once in awhile going over bumps or even if I move the seat while the car is stopped. Not a big deal, I'm sure I can get the dealership to fix that next time I go in for an oil change.
Mine is a 5-spd in the low 4000s. No issues and no noise. OTOH, most of the roads in Atlanta are pretty smooth.....

hey is yours a 5 spd or auto?
i have a manual (5084) and the only noise that i've heard is the popping from the
moonroof.. but that only happens when i go over an uneven road surface (like
when there's a dip due to a gutter)
I'm with n3ro....I have a manual (6812) and the only noise I've heard is the popping of the moonroof when I go over uneven road surfaces (like entering my driveway or big (uneven) bumps in the road.

For some reason, it doesn't pop when I cross over railroad tracks or even speed bumps (if I hit them head-on).
5-speed manual, and I've got the occasional moonroof pop.

I recently started getting a rattle in the sunroof on the passenger side. Its slight, but getting more and more noticeable. Little worried about it, but I'll have the dealer take a look at it before too long.
I have the moonroof pop only when i go up inclines like mentioned by everyone else. Im taking my car to the dealer for suspension work and was wondering do the dealers have a fix yet? How long will it take them to fix the moonroof, I heard it was just a couple of loose screws.

5,000 miles nothin but silence....
stick or auto?
Do the hatch rattles that people are hearing sound like metal or plastic?
not everytime but a lot of times when i turn a corner, either right or left turn, i hear like a banging/popping sound on the passenger side of the car. it sounds like something is hitting the inside of the passenger door. it's like something is able to roll around inside the door without me hearing it and then out of nowhere i hear a bang/pop sound. i don't hear a rolling object sound, just the bang/pop. it could be the moonroof but it sounds like something inside the door to me.
Yea thats the same for me, at first I thought the sound was coming from rocks on the ground, but Im pretty sure now that its the moonroof pop that everyone talks about. Alot of people said after getting the screw/nuts tightened that they stopped hearing the pop.
I feel completely stupid: I found the source of my rattle.

Its not the sunroof, but rather the passenger-side seatbelt hitting the side of the seat (where the release lever is near the headrest).

It just metal hitting plastic there, but thank goodness its not something more substantial. I just need to figure out the best way of making sure those two pieces don't come into contact.

I'm ordering my tC tomorrow or friday.
Glad to know it wasn't anything major!
It was one of those bizarre, random things. It was getting on my nerves, and it was hard to figure out where it was while driving. Plus, when someone else was in the car, they had their belt on, and the sound wouldn't happen.

I moved the seat a few notches forward on the drive home from work, and the car was as silent as you would want it.

Minus the occasional roof pop (which isn't bad at all).

Mine does have some slight rattling from the hatch area still. After leaving my car at the dealership for four days, they reported that it was the shims (the long, straight bars on either side of the hatch that help it open and hold it up) that were rattling, and that there was no good way to fix the problem short of removing the shims. They told me that Toyota had documented the problem, that Toyota would probably produce a new set of shims for the tC, and that they would let me know when a TSB had been released.
Ok... I've noticed that the rattling in the sunroof has increased. I donno if thats cause I'm paying more attention to it or if its (rattle) just settling in. I cant wait for the TSB...
