Where to buy new wheels

The snow should be going away soon, so I can finally consider buying some new rims for my tC. I'm thinking of moving up to 18s just because it looks better to me, even though I know performance will decrease.

I need suggestions on good places to buy a wheel/tire combo in the Albany area, or even a nice place to buy online. However, if I buy online, I'll need suggestions on a reputable garage in the area to put them on and balance them.

You can try Tirerack.com, They ship them mount and balanced, You just got to stick them on. Just some more wearthless information I enjoy to share.

Just checked their web site, selection is kinda limited and it also depends on the size.

You can go to 18's without losing performance. All you have to do is go with a smaller well wall size. I got my tC with 18's and all they do is go from 215/45/ 17's to 225/40 18's and you will have the same size wheel.

this is a half truth, your gearing will not change if u go with 18s and a smaller sidewall but u may still lose performance due to added weight of the 18s. unsprung weight can make a big difference in performance.

machiii.net is a good place to look fro rims and tires.com is where i usually get my tires.

in the albany area, there is autobahn performance group on central ave. in albany, they do pretty much everything when it comes to aftermarket. They have a web site and you can e-mail them if you have any questions. It's www.apgmotorsports.com

I have looked it PepBoys across from Home Depot on Central Ave and found it to be a waste of time. I don't know if the store further up Central Ave is any better when it comes to wheels and tires.

Prolly have to compare prices as to which is better, online and shipping or local and sales tax.

Do you have lowering springs by chance?

no lowering springs. Autobahn is high priced, it's the best only if you're willing to spend a bit more cash.

If you want to buy rims and tires seperately online, then you have to go somewhere to get them mounted & balanced, that'll set you back 20 per tire/rim combo. If that's what you want to do, then I recommend Broadway Automotive in Albany, great work.
