arite i know this may sound stupid..but what is the difference between an engine making the same horsepower but at different RPM..for example..the tC engine makes 160 @ 5700 rpm vs a Civic Si making 160 @ 7200 rpm..who would get off the line faster? who would win heads up? get to top speed faster? Pull harder?

It all depends on how they're geared. Since they make the same maximum power, the results will be different at different distances unless the engineers set up the gearing in both cars to work the same way. So, you can't say one is better than the other, they're just different in the way they make power, and if the driver and tuner know how to take advantage of both set ups, they'll be equally fast.

To understand better, read this. It goes into great detail about torque, horsepower, and what they really mean to you the driver.

thanks makes a lot of sense lo bux..torque is a discriminatory factor when it comes to engines..horsepower is the real champ..haha
