what does the sign in the dash that kinda looks like (!) mean? is that low tire pressure? since i dont have the owners manual, i havent been able to figure it out.

Yep. Check your pressure. In the glove box there's a button. After adjusting and stabilizing tire pressure in all four tires press and hold until the light you see lit flashes 3 times. Reference your manual.

What year model do you own? It is tire pressue in either case, but the system works a little different on each one. But I think they both reset the same way. So you should first make sure all pressures are correct and then reset it as mentioned above.

Did you swap over the tire pressure sensors as well? If not it will never go off. 07's have a true TPMS that read tire pressure. 06's and below just use individual wheel speed and have no wireless sensors in the wheels.

Just got the pm.. I will plug into the mapping software tonight so I can print it out. I will check my calander as well and send some potential dates for the trip.

Yep, the 07 actually measures pressure. So it has sensors in the wheels. All new cars are required to have that system by 2008 I beleive. It wouldnt be bad if toyota would have given a display and tire temp. There are systems you can order to add to any car with the sending units and a display that gives you temp and pressure for each tire, which would be nice on test n tune days.

So it is an individual sensor though? So people that want different rims can actually get them, and then swap the senor into the new wheels right? or something along that line?

You're right though, it would be pretty neat if they gave a display and included tire temp. It wouldn't only benefit the guy's on tracks at the test'n'tune but for the AutoX'ers as well. Of course that's probably why there are aftermarket systems thatyou can order for that. So regular people aren't paying for things they will never use.

Yes, there is one sensor per wheel which communicates wirelessly with the rest of the system. On all previous systems the ECU watches for one wheel on an axle to consistently spin faster than the other, meaning its pressure is lower. The new system actually monitors the pressure at each tire so it works at slow speeds and even at a stop. If you buy new rims, you should make sure the sensors fit and have them swapped out. A few people have already posted that they didnt know about the sensors and sold thier stock wheels and tires with them still inside.. so they ended up buying new sensors, which I beleive are about $100 or so a pop.

I wouldnt mind having one of the aftermarket systems I mentioned for AutoX and test n tunes (for autox), especially if I start running R-Comp tires at some point.

the tire pressure sensors for toyota are in fact the valve stems. with most cars if you see a metal valve stem it is most likely a pressure sensor, i believe that toyota has two types. the only difference being the angle at which the sensor is mounted to the rim. if you decide to buy aftermarket rims u might not be able to have the sensors on the tire, in which case there are two options if they do not fit. deal with the light or have the dealership strap the sensors inside the spare. im not sure if the last option is accurate because of the doughtnut spare that scion gives you

and be carefull because if you do break the sensors they do cost about 100$ and then you have to get the dealership to reprogram the TPS ECU

yeah, I switched them over to my new rims, and that bitch goes off if the tire pressure changes by more than 2 psi up or down...pretty accurate...cold weather makes it go off sometimes too, but once you start driving it goes away...
