I don't let it idle to warm up at all and I just don't push it too hard until the engine has fully warmed up whcih only takes a few minutes.

It isn't good to warm up your vehicle. It warms up best under light load. No load idling is very bad for lots of things. The only bad thing about just driving off is pushing too hard after start up. You should not exceed about 3000 rpm for the first 5 minutes of operation to give the oil a chance to warm up and thin a little, otherwise the bypass valve in your oil filter opens and unfiltered oil goes through your engine.

There isn't enough heat in idling to warm the oil sufficiently even if you idle for 5 minutes. Gotta have some load on it.

I stick a Plissken in my gas tank and it warms up the car instantly.

I ask because I always have to bolt to work in the cold ass mornings and never have time to sit for a warmup, I thought I was doing bad things not letting it sit, I guess I was wrong

o. o o and
when u idle you add miles to the engine but not to the vehicle it self...
it can lessen the life of the engine...
..i think..

I live in Arizona. Warming up isn't too much of a problem...
