I am planning on going to a local shop to have a full cat back exhaust put in. I want to get a full exhaust with a muffler. But, will this hurt my gas mileage or help it? Also, what kind of horsepower gain can I expect with a full exhaust system?

I would suggest if you are going from the exhaust manifold back that you put a high flow cat in there somewhere. It will help keep that sound tamed to a nice level....maybe even a nice resonator....just pick a free flowing one after that cat. You will be pleased with the sound.

Oh and the cat is good for emmissions reasons.

From my experience.... yes. But not by a LARGE amount. I now get about 23-25mpg highway, but with an ECU reset that should probably go back up... and what is with all these "winter additives" I hear people say is in this gas this time of the year (and thus more expensive)? It sounds like a load of BS and a cheap way to raise gas prices.

From my experience an exhaust doesn't change MPG. My MPG before exhaust were 27-28. Now I'm getting 28 with nearly every single tank.

The "winter blend" gas typically makes gas cheaper, not more expensive.

I went to a local muffler shop today. He said he would cut out the s shape pipe, and make it straight. He said to go to Advanced Auto Parts and buy a muffler from them. He said that he could install for about $50 to $70. Does this sound like a good deal? Also, will this louder exhaust set off any sensors in the car like the headers do?

$50-$70 just for installation on the exhaust? I installed the creative compacts exhaust myself in under 2 hours, and I don't know wtf I'm doing. Now that I've done it once I'll bet I could do it again in 45min or so.

I talked to another exhaust specialist today. He said, he would cut everything out from the resonator back. He told me to buy a muffler from Advanced Auto Parts or Auto Zone, then he would run a straight pipe to the muffler. But, he said that I might not hear a difference unless he removes the resonator. I want to get a nice deep tone that is not to loud. Will I be able to hear the exhaust if he does not remove the resonator or does he have to remove the resonator also?

you might as well get the muffler off ebay if you want to do it that way, its cheaper and they probably have better styles

If you want a nice deep tone go with the Injen exhaust. I installed it myself within a hour and I had no clue what I was doing. You'll love the sound. And about the MPG, you won't notice a difference between full catback or just the axle back which the Injen is. This has been talked about many times. Thats just my .02. I'm in love with my exhaust

I'm with buderic go with the Injen. We talked to one of the guy from Greddy and he told me that the gains you get from the middle section aren't noticable. So unless you're planning on boosting I wouldn't worry about the mid section.
