Has anyone else gotten the VSE Subwoofer option and not been impressed???? I did and not impressed at all, it barely makes a difference over the factory speakers even after I have turned the gain all the way up. You would think that by paying $450 for that option you would hear some bass and be happy, granted it is not aftermarket through a sound shop, but it is clean, out of the way, and fits in well with the car's interior. If any of you have had any luck or any tips can you please help me out!!!

We've got plenty of people here saying the OEM subwoofer upgrade isn't worth it. Why do you think so many people do their own aftermarket installs?

well seeing how it is from bazooka, the name itself leads you, or me knowing a little something about car audio, to believe that it would be a decent sub. I am not looking to put a bulky box in my car that is why I opted for the stealth bazooka. Ignorant?? NO!!! Just got duped by Scion.

#1-- I would have never paid $450 for that option (when i could spend the $ to have something better)

#2-- How great can one factory sub be? Answer: Not that great.

when the option was presented to me, i was so floored by the cost, i thought no way can that thing be worth it!

And it isn't.

#1-Thanks for the $0.02 but that is you not me.

#2-It is not a Toyota Sub, it is Bazooka!!! Do you not know anything about car audio??

I was under the impression with the name and the cost I would have gotten in not a fraction but the whole worth vs. the price.

#1-- you asked for our opinions

#2-- (if it can come from the factory installed in your car, it's called a factory sub, i dont care if it's a Bazooka, in this case it's a factory option) I do know about car audio, obviously, i didn't waste $450. because I read posts here on it before I went to the dealership, i saved myself some $!

as krdshrk said-- plenty of ppl. have complained about it

and #3-- if you have a mean reply to anyone who posts to tell you something, this thread won't go far.

you want to reply with a hint of embedded sarcasism then that is the kinda of reply you will get. I know I have made a mistake by getting it but bottom line is I did get it and can't do anything about it. And the purpose of this post was to see if anyone did anything to improve the sound out of it, or maybe I am doing something wrong.

well, it is in the wrong forum. and really, if you post in any forum online, you are going to get opinions. you may not like them. it really doesnt matter. welcome to the internet.
sorry you feel you got duped by scion. i would fair to say that you duped yourself.
you asked viva "Do you not know anything about car audio??"
um, you are the guy who bought a Bazooka product. where is your leg to stand on? not now, not ever, has anyone who knows about car audio suggested running a 100watt Bazooka sub for good audio performance.
as for sarcasm, its like an opinion, you are going to get it on the internet.
last but not least - since you are a car audio whiz and not a forum whiz, i will move this for you to the correct forum. the one that says "audio" in the title.
sorry, more sarcasm.

You weren't duped.... you duped yourself into assuming a name makes it automatically good.

If you had researched the options, you would have found out how truly is.

the problem with the sub has everything to do with electronics and nothing to do with the enclosure. the enclosure is actually designed and tuned to match thier 10' tube enclosures. Bazooka was contracted by sicon to design a CHEAP chip amplifier working off of 7 amps of current.....not good. So, yes, the stock sub will not slay you. but.......if you were to push 200 or so watts to that box (bypassing the internal amp) you just might hear what bazooka intened you to hear (at least in terms of bass)

The amp is bad (say thanks to Toyota for limiting the current that Bazooka had to work with), and the actual woofer is bad (feels like a 2oz magnet - smaller than the speaker in a gameboy).

The enclosure itself is ok. Looks semi-handmade, can't survive FedEx shipping, but looks way better in the car than any cube box I've seen. So replace the woofer and power thist thing with a decent amp and you'll have yourself adequate bass. But stock vs. stock it's worse than my $60 8" Bazooka tube.

I don't think Scion was hiding anything from you.

Maybe a lack of research?

If you knew something about car audio, you should've at least known the specs on the product you're investing your $450 on

Ignorant? Yes.

On a brighter note, if you're disgustingly unhappy with it, maybe you should sell it and go for a better sub?

I do trust me here is my setup

and trust me the bazooka sub is def not worth it cause guaranteed mine is better and I got both my subs and one amp for 450...

of course I have two amps but you know...still too much just for a factory subwoofer

If I ever get a sub, I'm only getting one.

Where will I put all my junk? i.e. extra shoes, clothes, pillows, my 3245 coke/water bottles...

I don't like it when the subwoofers thump so much that you feel yourself vibrating. It makes my insides sick
I want to be able to hear my grandchildren talk.

I'm thinking of getting a small powered sub (definitely not the tC bazooka). I'm not sure if that will be enough bass or not, though. It would definitely be nice as far as saving space. I guess that's a few miles down the road, though.
