Same one I've got.

Battery life is shorter than I'm used to, but otherwise its a great alarm/remote starter.

<< I like that statement. A good thief will do some research and learn where it is in plain sight.

Looks like a good alarm. I know I was thinking about getting a viper myself. I think I am going to get the one with the LCD screens though. Viper makes a good alarm though! Very reliable.

Cool. Did you install it yourself?
no i had a car audio place close to me install it...but i got a real good deal because i know the people that run the place...i think it would be super hard to install...and i was supposed to get a LCD screen one but...they told me that the keychain itself has been having defects and were only lastiing about 5 months, not the battery just the entire thing...like 5 months then u had to buy a new keychain which are prob like 60 or so. but who knows really. i would def ask around before i chose one
ahh I haven't heard about the keychain lcd's busting. I'll have to check that out thanks! I wonder if the warranty would cover that.

FYI: for those of you with the 5 speeds, in most states ( you have to sign a waver before they can install the autostart feature if they will do it at all. Most shops won't even install that on the 5 speeds)
Compustar makes a remote starter formanual trannys, i am looking at getting one for mine. http://www.compustar.org/remote_start.htm

How does auto start even work? If you had autostart can you manually start the engine or do you always have to press the button to start it?
Yeah, you can still manually start the car with the key. When you hit the button to remote start, the car starts and runs for a programmed period of time (mine is 12 minutes). Once you are ready to drive, you put the key in and turn it to On then step on the brakes, and you're good to go. If you step on the brakes before putting in the key or if you attempt to open the hood, the engine shuts off.
I know this is a super old thread .. and I did search (How do you think I found it?). One question. Can you remote start your engine and still have your doors locked? When its cold I want to start my car and not have someone take off in it! or figure out a way to do so..
Not sure about this particular alarm but , most starters will leave your doors locked
Yes, the door locks/alarm are controlled by a separate button (at least on mine).

Every Viper does that.
