TRD vs. TWM

the TRD shortshifter isnt as short as the TWM one, but it does reduce shift like it says it does. The only difference is that the TRD shifter is as tall as the stock shifter. The knob is in the same place and height, jus with a reduced shift. The TWM on the other hand gives the car a different feel. The shifter height is reduced 2 inches and it takes a lil more effort to get the car in gear. But it is really fun shifting by the way.

I have the TRD, and I don't like shifters that are shorter than stock. I want my hands as close to the steering wheel as possible. The term short doesn't mean not as tall, it means the throws are shorter than the original design. The TRD delivers this with all the quality I have come to expect from this TRD product range. It is identical to stock in fit and has better finish because you get the leather wrapped knob. I am very pleased with mine.

I sold the leather wrapped knob to Z. I like my aluminum obx one better.

It breaks 100 degrees at least 15 days of the year in Sacramento. No metal anything I have to touch with my hand, thank you!

Cold don't scare me. I've worked on jets at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks when it was -47. Cold is nothing like grabbing a piece of metal that's 165 degrees from sitting in the sun all day. No thanks, I'll keep the leather.

I see that the TRD comes with a metal bushing instead of the stock rubber one - is shifting notably shorter and tighter with it?

It's a noticable decrease in throw. I think it's just the right amount. But that's just me.

Heck, I burned my hand on the OBX knob yesterday, and it was only in the high 70s.

Purchased and installed - soooo much tighter. I'm happy. Now I'll just get some springs and a rear sway from Ken and I'll have a happy tC.

i just toss a bandana over my metal shift knob in the summer. that, my tint, and the heatshield in the windshield keep my car bearable while parked in california summer heat.
