Toyota Cylon?

Told my parents that I had gotten a new car. They were happy that I purchased something non-RWD for a change. They are both avid Toyota fans and own 2 Camry's and a Solara between them. My mom was familiar with the car because I showed her the dealership brochure that I brought home when I was comparing vehicles.

My dad was very confused apparently by the offshoot Scion division of Toyota, so my mom wound up just simplifying to "For all practical purposes - it is a Toyota - replacement for the Celica".

So the day I brought it out to show them and I hear my dad on the phone with his buddy saying - "Oh, I gotta go check this thing out... yeah, it's new - it's a TOYOTA CYLON...".

Uh, a little too much Battlestar Galactica maybe?

^^^Could be.

I thought the general public has been assaulted with enough Scion ads to finally get that Scion is a new (and I use that term in the relative to other major car companies sense) car company. Oh well, soon your old neighbors will be convinced that your car is a hybrid.

I had to explain to him also "Ya know the Celica I had..."
This is the replacement
Except I paid for this new for what I paid for the celly used. Yaeh I lost about 20+HP

My dad doesnt even understand how to say scion...he calls it a "see-on" lol its horrible and i tell him how to say it correctly every time but he never does lol parents...

Yeah. I've gotten "Sky-on" and "Skee-on" a couple of times. And then the people who have heard of Scion but not seen my car usually automatically think of the xB, because those commercials are played a lot more. I think the worst pronunciation I've gotten was probably "Camry".

I was at a Taco Bell drive thru a while back and the girl at the window saw the yoursciontc.com decal on my window & said (spelled as it sounded), "Your Scientic .com huh?"

If people have problems saying Scion asked them how they say Scissors, same concept. I've heard it all, specially the hybrid part. Just to let you all know, that the tC is not the replacement for the Celica, it just didn't seem right to put a car with less power less features, and not as much room in the show room at 24K when you can get the same thing out of a tC 6k less. The Celica has just been thrown into the burner to be melted down and re-shaped, I'd put money on we see a new Celica in the near future.

you should have bought her a scone to emphasize the difference between the two... then throw the scone at her for good measure, but thats just me (i probably wouldnt throw the scone at her if shes got some hot friends to introduce)

I got a new one today. Just got done talking about my car being keyed with my insurance adjuster, and said, "And that's a 2006 Skio?" Ha!
