I assume you mean the Yokohama Avid H4S. My special lady friend has the Avids on her Subaru now. She has the stock 98 Impreza wheels on it . I think they are 15s, i don't know the tire size. I also had Avids on my old 86 rolla. 185/45 R14s. I liked them for being all season tires. They were a compromise of all things but they did everything satisfactorily. They had a decent amount of grip in the wet, dry and snow and were pretty quiet. I have no experience with the Toyos, but I am a yokohama/advan kinda guy.

Yeah I know that we have low profile tires and that all-season is kind of a joke for our size tires.. but i have to ask..
Toyo Proxes 4 or yokohama h4s.. which would be better in cold weather maybe some snow? (without going to a snow tire) I had the pzero's and looking to try something else this time around..

My wife has the h4s on her corolla. I can tell you the h4s is a great tire in the rain and has exelent straight line stability.
sounds like this is a decent,nice tire.. maybe not ultra high performance, but does a good job.. i like the idea of a decent snow tire and one that handles well in the rain.. I wasn't sure if the toyo proxes 4 could handle snow or the extreme cold of michigan winters.. thanks for the input!

My opinion: go with Avon Tech M550s. They are better than any other all season tire I've ever used, which includes numerous Michelins (MXV4s, MX4s), Yokohama (the tC's stock S32As), Continental (Contitouring Extreme), various Bridgestone Potenzas (RE092s, RE95s and others) and Goodyear Eagle LS.

Some people have experienced a small issue where the tires develop a small flat spot if the car is left to sit several days in cold weather, but after driving 5 miles or so it goes away. I only experienced this with my 225/40-18 size of this tire (ony 18x8.5 wheels); on my 215/45-17 size they don't do it at all (same size as stock). I had to go back from the 18s to stock size because of rubbing issues (partially also due to my brake kit, which pushed the wheels out farther than stock).
