tC vs. Cooper S

I was at a stoplight when this Cooper-S pulls up next to me with his music blaring... no subwoofer. He looks over at me and gives this really cocky look and I just kinda laughed. I turned up my system and turned up the solobaric and his reaction was pretty funny. He started reving his car, and I had just gotten the injen CAI installed the day before, plus I had the trd exhaust. So I guess he wanted to race. He had me at the line, I think it was either my bad reaction or it was because of the drive by wire delay, not sure cause i haven't really raced my tC yet. But I caught up to him and beat him to the next light by a little under a car length. He had a manual though and I have an auto, and the distance looked to be just under a quarter mile cause we eneded up hitting 85mph. I dunno how good of a kill that is, but it was fun.

Glad it was fun and nice kill. Just be safe, for everyone.
he beat you off the line because you're in an automatic
next time you sporadically race some car down some street at 85mph make sure there are no pedestrians. =)
I thought the cooper s is s lot lighter then the tC. If i'm right maybe that's because he had you off the line even thou. I'm not sure, but correct me if i'm wrong the cooper is faster then our tC. It's got bmw engine and the weight difference.
u sir were the better driver that time
ive driven those a few times and they are faster than our tc but when everything is within seconds of eachother speed wise, the driver is most important..and like they said, please take it to the track

I only race at the track or on streets that are out of towns and that there are no side streets. Speaking of race track i have to find a scanner and scan the lil prints from the track.
oh just for clarification we were on one of those back county roads (no side streets and 2 lanes each way with a median) way out in nowhereville, and it was late with no cars on the road, so it wasn't too dangerous... i wouldn't race on orlando streets, its crawling with cops. but yea i'll be taking it to the track soon cause I move into my apartment in august which is few streets down from a racetrack.
good kill. normally though, it will spank the tc. especially since its the cooper s plus its manual and you're auto. those things are really light and i've heard are about as fast as rsx-s stock. dont take those coopers too lightly.
I was gonna say...they may be lame as hell, but those Cooper Mini S are quick...significantly quicker than the tC.

P.S. Didn't I just sort of chastise someone for calling someone else's car "gay"? Does that mean I can't?
I think he just laid off the gas earlier than you, you should have been beat. those coopers are fast and resposive there is a reason they cost almost 10 grand more with the s option and 5 more with the aditional tuning.
yea, this is one of those sketchy races again. maybe it is in fact true, but the chances of a tC, automatic at that, overiding a cooper s is simply remarkable, yet unbelievable. i am not going to flame, but if you infact did win, brilliant race.
Driver is always a factor in a race and it's not like he raced a vette...nice kill.

Now supposedly the stock stereo system on the cooper is top notch, is it like harmon or whatever? I just remembered seeing that on the top 10 list of cars for good stereos
at the level that tc's and coopers are, its is purely drivers race. not unbelievable at all. as a matter of fact, im not suprised by the outcome. if racing were purely numbers, there wouldnt be tracks and drivers or jockeys. it would be a math contest.
Well he knew we were racing so either he just gave up near the end or it was a driver mistake... it was really close either way

the tC was automatic and the cooper s was manual, strictly by the numbers the tC should have lost

thats what i said my good sir.
well since we're going stricly by the numbers, yankees are world series champs, suns won the finals, and drew brees is better than tom brady. why bother with competition ?
good win Tc, dont expect it everytime
