pretty heavy, but the bmw straight sixes are pretty quick... it would be close at best, but i don't think you would win- you may have her off the line if shes an auto and you're a manual
hmm, i didnt think bmw made the 325i in '98. should just be the 318, 323, and 328 for the series. regardless, if it's a 2.5L 6, it lacks a significant displacement advantage. the 3.0L has the advantage, but considering the weight of the vehicle (mid to high 3K depending on the exact model), and the outputs of those two engines at 184HP/175lb-ft and 225HP/214lb-ft respectively... thrust to weight ratio has you with the advantage. take her out.
BMW's had 325's almost the whole span of the 3 series. 98 was the last year of the 323 though, I BELIEVE...don't qoute me on that one.

I have an auto and raced my friend's 1988 325is...and lost. if I had the manual it would of been A LOT closer, probably dead even.

just a warning. BMW's are nice, really fast cars...
They're definitely NOT really fast.... but they pack some punch at times.... but from my experience, their straight 6 cylinder motors made most of their power up top... where the tC is just over flowing with torque and lower end power. I'd say you would definitely take a 325i in the 8th mile... to around 75mph.... then it may get closer.... its hard to say.... Rather than raw power, or displacement, I'd say this race would come down to driver ability and transmission whether standard, or automatic.
COME ON TAKE HER OUT AND EVEN IF ITS CLOSE I AM PRETTY USRE THAT LITTLE BIMMER COSTS A PRETTY PENNY MORE THEN THE tC. Oh does she have a Mp3 player?? panoramic moonroof?? stock 17" alloys????? NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KICK HER ASS SEABASS

Uh, yes you are still a newbie (currently you have 21 posts at the time of this posts)

Maybe the older BMW's were weak, but the current one's kick major ass. Specially the new M3 5 Series, *whistles*
yeah sorry still a rookie..... but have you seen the new "6" that is a peice of rolling art and the convertable............
you mean the M5? There's no M3 5 series. The M stands for M Power, which is kind of like BMW's version of TRD, SVT, etc, etc. They've been running the M5 for a while now, and the M3's been around for a really long time. They're planning that the next M3 will have a modified 4.0 V8 I hear
Ahh, thats my mistake. When you look at the M series, it has three color stripes and then the M. IIIM. So I thought it meant M3.

Yea, M powered 5 Series is one sexy machine.
m5
I agree. The m5 is nice. I got a customer who has a black one. Soo nice! I drool every time I see it!
You should ask for a drive, and he gets a discount.

M stands for Motorsport, not M Power. The new M5 with a 500 hp V-10 should be a true delight. You can of course get a 6 speed manual, but they're also offering a 7 speed sequential gearbox. Also in "normal" mode, the engine produces 400 hp. Press a button, and it switches to 507 hp mode with adjusted throttle response.

PS It redlines at 8250 - in a V10. Disgusting.
