tC Reserved!

2999 Views 39 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  C!ph3r
I am fortunate enough to have a bunch of Scion dealers near my house. After going to two dealerships I was shut down by hearing, "Sorry we have no tCs in stock". So finally I went to the dealership that's closest to my house and had myself put a reserve down on a Silver Streak Mica 5-speed. The kind lady said that I would have to wait until the shipments come in which will be in about 3 weeks (gay). However she has me in high priority due to the fact that I already have the money and will be paying in cash (sweet). So all I need is patience and something to hold me over until the shipment with my car comes.

(Is waiting that long something to be happy about?)

Thanks. Plan for what? I'm a bit slow...
Plan for what you want to do to it once you get it...
i just ordered mine (5spd black cherry pearl stock) two days ago, and the wait is KILLING me. Two dealerships in my area told me it could take up to a month. This is going to be the longest month of my life, i can't wait to get this sweet sweet ride.
Hey guys, I'm new...just reserved it yesterday, can't wait!

I know how you feel, n3ro, at least there's something to look forward to.
Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I put a deposit on mine June 29th....so only 9 days and I can't stop thinking about it. Hehe.

What's getting me though is that when I spoke with the dealer, we printed out the car with the price from the website, and then he reminded me that doesn't include tax, tags, blah blah blah. But, on this site there is another topic going where people mentioned add-ons that were being tagged onto the car.

I thought the whole point of pure-pricing is the only real "variable" in the price is the options you put on the car. Tax is a fixed rate, and the tag and license fees are made clear by the dealership, so what am I missing?

Now I'm starting to worry that I have a car coming my way, along with a price tag that's a few thousand more than I expect (and more than my financing company expects too...yikes) ....

thanks for the welcome, n3ro

- loopylady, i also expected the price to be within range to the msrp (16,500) at the dealership, but when all of the taxes, charges, admin costs were added on, the bottom line number for the car, was almost $2000 higher than the price i thought i was going to pay (16,500). I'm a first time new car buyer, and the dealer didn't exaclty explain all the other fees, it was just like, matter of fact, it is what it is, that kinda thing. I was little discouraged by that, and my dad's cosigning on the financing, so he wasn't too happy about that, but whatever, i still think the car is worth much more than what i paid for it (18,500 total), and I can't wait to get it.
Yeah, I'm a first time buyer too, and was looking forward to the experience with pure pricing so I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. But....UGH...that's not what I wanted to hear.....almost $2,000 more??

Well with all the options I chose, that puts the "internet price" at $17,559. The dealer said the taxes would run abour $1,000.00 and that I'll get between $600 and 900ish for my trade-in, once they take a quick look at it (that's using Blue Book trade-in values for "fair" and "good" condition on my car).

So.....I was guessing my top-end for financing would be $18,500. Did you put any options on yours? If not, then I probably seriously under-guessed my final price.

Loopy,

The only options i put on were the floor mats, THATS IT! I also had a '99 oldsmobile cutlass w/ 71K miles on it, i went to kelly blue book, it said the traid in value with 'good' condition was around 4K. The dealer offered 1900 for the car, which was rediculous. It's only 5 years old. They also used a different pricing book, i forget what its called. Make sure you ask the dealer for the price break down, and ask to see the bottom, bottom, bottom line for the price of the car, 'cuz thats the amount you'll probably be financing. I might also put down a few thousand as a down payment, but not sure yet. The interest rates are really low right now, i was told I'd be between 4.5 to 5%, which is really not that bad, even with a higher sticker price. The most important thing is your monthly payment, and I am doing 60 month financing on mine, so w/o the down payemnt it comes out to like, 350/mo, which isn't too bad. Good luck w/ your TC!

Its called the Black Book if i remember correctly.
Thanx for the welcome! My first time buying a new car too, with a trade in, an auto tc still ended up being about 18300 after ttl and whatnot....Kinda depressing but, a good deal(I hope). It's only been 3 days, but I'm so anxious....

I think we all feel your pain, sangria. This wait hurts like a bitch.
I am so glad I didn't have to wait. I went up to the dealership yesterday just to look at them and they only had one on the lot. It was the first day it was avaliable for sale even though it had been at the lot for a week and I was the first nonemployee to drive it. While I was filling out the paperwork 4 other people wanted to test drive it. After the salesman told me that I was so glad I got there when I did because they're not getting another shipment for three more weeks.
Oh man, Jenn you're so lucky you don't have to wait! If you can, post pictures of your new TC for the rest of us to drool over. :c)
Yeah, just be lucky they even had one for you to test drive. I've got my money down on the car and have yet to sit in it....

Talk about being anxious....LOL!!!
same here, none of the toyota dealers around me had one in stock or even in the showroom, and i still ordered one just based on pics and reviews! Crazy world.
