Anyone have any experences with a 00 or 01 celica GTS , reason asking is that 1.8 vvtl-i engine more powerful than the TC's 2.4 vvti, also wondering the 0 to 60, quarter mile times and top speeds on BOTH models, and which is the real all out preformer out of the both.

i have an 00 GT-s in my garage.
if by more powerful you mean higher rated HP output, sure.

0-60 - 7.2 celica, 7.5 tc
1/4 - 15.4 celica, 15.7 tc
t/s - 134mph celica, 127mph tC

yeah, they are slow as nuts in the auto form. and the one in my garage is an auto. i wish my girls could drive stick. still, even in the 6spd, unless you are spending a lot of time high revving, they still arent very fast.

a properly geared 5 spd can do the same thing. you dont need a 6th gear, you need a longer final drive ratio.

you can't just adjust the 5th gear ratio? would you have to redo the rest?
the issue isnt with 5th, its with your final drive. 1-5 on the e351 (camry 5speed) gearbox is the same as ours, the E350. the only difference is the final drive ratio. a swap is the way to go for altering that.

no, not the engine. just the transmission.
