I'm pretty juiced up on valium right now and some lortab...so any typos are a result from a drug induced haze.....
Coming home from work today I was stopped to turn left at my street when I was rear-ended by a 16 year old driving what looked to be an older model SUV, probably a old bronco or surburban. 40 mph impact that threw my car about 25 feet past my street I was turning onto. Needless to say I got pulled out of my car by the fire department on a neck and back board and taken to the ER at my hospital. X-rays negative, on 10 mg valium and a lortab and currently going to get my digital camera and go to the place where it was towed to pull you up some nice....graphic pictures.
Toyota dealership thinks it'll be repaired just fine since it was a direct rear end collision (thoughts, anyone)?? I was apparently non-concussed since I was directing my mom to rip off all my additions in case they were going to total it to place on my new one.
So....pictures to follow shortly unless I'm zonked out (40% there already) and I'll let you know what's going to be done with it....but...any of you that have the bazooka subwoofer in the back panel....it took a 40mph collision and was *still* pumping out the bass. Hehe...and apparently the back glass did not shatter at all. More to follow......god damn 16 year old drivers............

Be back in a bit, guys. Working on getting the ball rolling in getting everything....fixed hopefully...or a new car, if not. Oh and a visit from my lawyer since I can't return to work for 4 days and I have a pretty bad whiplash injury. No collar...but luckily nothing fractured/popped out/ slipped disc....no fractured ribs, no broken anything. I'll keep you guys posted.

Damn! I hope you're feeling better... looks like you'll be okay & everything's going to work out for you... that's great! Did the other driver not slow down at all? Did the SUV have a brush/grill guard?
well... get better & hope to see you on here again soon

Oh wow... sorry to hear that.
I'm sure the insurance thing will fix everything... so don't worry about that too much. Just make sure you are feeling better.

Really sorry to hear about your accident, labfish. I hope that you and your tC will both be okay. Sue their asses. Damn parents who let their 16-year-olds who can't drive for $%@* need to learn not to let their kids drive rolling death machines!
One of xB guys here in Atl got rearended couple of weeks ago - the other party's insurance company pays following (besides repair costs):

- Compensation for missed work for several days
- Car depreciation due to a wreck (based on Toyota estimate)
- Plus a $600 check for "inconveniencing" the guy

It was a mild impact - something like 15mph, so I guess you are entitled to way more than that.
Oh yeah...my family lawyer is going to call me shortly. I'm still trying to get ahole of the police officer so I can get his name (tempting for revenge....mmmmm....haha) and insurance policy number so my insurance can start beating the crap out of their insurance number. Right now the bare minimum is going to be rental car replacement paid by his insurance...my medical bills paid by my insurace forwarded to his insurance...lost wages and pain and suffering. Although the pain is zilch right now since 10mg of valium and a lortab will pretty much cure anything. It's good to know the ER doc pretty personally. LoL
Actually I appear to be fairly resistant to valium since I can still A) type B) walk C) Take pictures of my car.....
And you guys will be impressed at the survivability of a 40mph rear end collision...I'm getting ready to upload the pictures and post.
Oh and I think he had something on his bumper because it punched some impressive holes in mine. Right now I'm going to be fine...tomorrow I'm going to be crawling around the house trying to remember where I stashed all the pain meds.
And...I got some major satisfaction witht the fact that the front end of his broncoII/surburban/blazer (it was a black older model...when I get the police report I'll post the results of the Scion vs. SUV contest....
But the front end of his SUV was literally *gone*. I saw maybe one foot of hood out of the rear view mirror. I'll see if I can get police shots also and show you the victory(ha ha ha) of the rear end of our cars.
Painful to look at! Hope they can fix 'er up as good as new.

Edit: But yea, looks pretty good for having just been in a solid collision with an SUV.
Yup, that's definitely repairable. Even rear quarterpanels seem ok. So just the hatch, bumper, and maybe rear floorboard. But in any case - does not look too bad for a 40mph collision.

Waiting for parts will be a witch, though.
OUCH!!! I'm amazed there isn't more damage. Glad you're going to be alright.

And the last ones. Yeah...I'm amazed that I had a rear end of my car....the police said I'd find it in the scrap heap to take pictures of it...and I was like....wonderful... 3 weeks old... 600 miles....and toasted by a 16 year old (sorry if there are any 16yo tc-ers out there) BUt there should be some 16 year olds that shouldn't be driving.....IMO.

Rear quarterpanels have *some* buckling. One of my pics shows....a little but it doesn't show it too well. I expect them to replace them...but the doors are fine...no pinching, no buckling...seems like the moon roof glass sections avoided damage because the hatch popped up and out completely. Good design....and the glass didn't shatter.

And tomorrow I was going to have my new sway bar that came yesterday....installed.

Apparently I didn't get a concussion...since I was writing down instructions to strip off all my add-ons if the car was going to be declared totaled. I had the list going long...LoL.

And thanks for the support, guys...I came out of this with no major (talk to me tomorrow) injuries because I had my seat belt on. Allllllways wear your seat belts. And the air bags didn't deploy since it was a rear-end collision. (in case anyone was curious...)
