Sweet Car, Bad Photos...

I felt it was about time I took some pics of my '05 silver streak metallic 5MT tC and posted them here, but at the time I went to shoot them I realized I forgot my camera (was at my cousin's place upstate), and ended up using my phone's camera. As such, I apologize for the incredibly junktastic photos--I did my best to make them sort of acceptable.

I know there's people on 56K, and also people on broadband, so the images on this post were limited in size for 56K users, and broadband users can click on the images to zoom in.

Mods that are already installed:
Factory ground effects kit
TRD short throw shifter
TRD sport springs
TRD rear antisway bar on, "race," setting
TYC LED rear tail lamps
Hotchkis front strut tower bar
Umnitza carbon fiber intake
Privat Profil wheels by Konig (18x8.5" +32mm offset)
Avon Tech M550 tires (225/45/18)
Wilwood front big brake kit with forged billet SuperLite 4-pot calipers (140-9013) in black and 13" SRP vented and crossdrilled rotors (yes, I know, the GT rotors, which are slotted, are less likely to crack, but I'm no autocrosser, just street driving/daily commuter)
Wilwood braded front brake lines
tC emblems on the fenders
Alta Performance Mini billet short antenna (with the ugly little sticker removed; not in the photos)
OBX mesh shift knob
WeatherTech license plate covers

But, without further ado, the photos (for now, until I take some shots with my real camera)...

Front brake kit and Privat wheels

Rear with stock brakes

Front wheel gap with wheel turned in slightly

Front wheel gap with wheel turned out slightly

Rear wheel gap

Umnitza intake shots

If you see this plate, give a quick honk and wave!

Mods I'm still waiting on:
Custom-fabbed rear Wilwood brake kit by Precision Brakes Company with forged billet DynaLite 4-pot calipers and 12.9" SRP rotors (Precision Brakes is still fabbing this)
Wilwood braded rear brake lines (will ship with the custom rear kit)
RetroHID custom-fabbed front headlamps with BMW E46 bixenon projectors, bulbs and ballasts, Range Rover shrouds and white LED angel-eyes and Sylvania SilverStar highbeam (still tentative on whether or not he can do something to hide the amber side marker; he's about half done retrofitting the thing)
50% tint (can anyone recommend a good place in the NY metro area for getting this done?)

Pretty impressive camera phone pics and definitely a nice looking tC. Way to individualize.

Thanks! I felt the pictures were gross, as I'm normally spoiled by the images from my Canon S50, but I suppose these are okay for now, and even I was getting impatient with having no pics to show of my ride.

Yeah, actually the main reason why I chose this car over any other was for that specific reason. I wanted a car that I could mark as mine, without doing something outrageous or ugly. I wanted subtle, yet distinct.

Oh btw, the wheels don't rub. They're insanely close, but no rubbing. That's why I have so many shots of the gaps.

Wow, those are some great pictures for a phone... the car looks great as well. I still don't know about the new tail lights. Maybe if I see a Scion driving around with them it will look different.

Well I did cheat a little by despeckling and resizing downward with smooth bicubic sampling to fix the graininess, as well as running some auto leveling and auto contrast. If I took the time to do it, I can probably get better still with the manual color balance and what not, but I figured most people would be okay with this.

Well besides the obvious issues that are subjective, there's still the fact that LEDs light up quicker and more abruptly, which not only catches the attention of people behind you better, but according to some research done by GM and included as part of the marketing when Cadillac first came out with the LED taillamps on their Devilles, can improve response time of people behind you enough to recover as much as some 200 feet of difference in braking distance (I figure they must've been calculating with the cars doing some ludicrously high speed, but even a difference of ten feet can mean the difference between accident and accident avoided). If you ever come around New York or likely around any other municipality with fairly recent busses, you'll see that they have been upgraded with LED brake lighting for this very reason--safety.

After all, that's what lights are for, safety.

Wow...those really are good pics. As for the tail lights, I think they are hideous. That's just my opinion though, and otherwise, you have a very sweet ride.
Nice ride, I definately like the led tails, they just need to be toned down with a light shade of smoke. Really like the wheels......
nice pix man
The 06's have the tC badge on the side now?

Wheels with tires came out to ~$1500 after tax. The intake came from Umnitza directly for $200+shipping.

Yeah I was considering some smoked overlays from Blue Batmobile, but I wasn't sure how the surface mount vinyl would look if I only did part of the light (I don't want to do the entire fixture, since it would cut down visibility, and that's counterproductive for safety). The only part I want to cover is the amber portion with his cap overlay. I'm going to wait and see on how HIDRetro deals with the amber on the headlamp first.

Nope, I have an '05, and I added those on myself.

Thanks to everyone else on the comments so far, both positive and negative.

Great looking pics & car. I think those tails are growing on me...still not fond of them, but I'm starting to like them more.

Mad props to having your screen name on your license plate.

hey man that's a very hot ride that you have... how about the intake from umnitza that you have how does it sound? and how does it improve the performance of the tc. I also like your front brake kit where did you get it and how much did you paid for it? very nice ride... very clean.
that is one of the coolest tc's ive seen in a long time. it makes even the rear tail lights look good, the rims match, even the cell phone cam doesnt detract from it.

Thanks, hehe. I actually came up with this some eight years ago as my AOL screenname (back when I actually used AOL!
) and it basically stuck. It's a twist on my real name, Edward Ng. If anybody here's into PCs, that (my real name) is my handle in the SilentPCReview forums where I moderate (I am reviewer at SPCR as well, but my day job now occupies too much time for me to do reviews actively, and I don't have the proper equipment to put out reviews that are as good as Mike Chin's, anyway).

Thanks, pal. Please see my other thread for info on the Umnitza c.f. intake. In short, it sounds great, mostly noticeable above 2500rpm (sounds like a larger displacement engine now) but gains are not particularly noticeable, particularly under 3000rpm. Above that, it's pure butt dyno, which means the gains could be fake for all I know. I like it for the looks and sound though, so it's a keeper.

Brakes I got for $1085+shipping from Precision Brakes Company. The Wilwood braided steel lines were additional $85. I think I saw the same kit for $1075 somewhere else after I had ordered mine, but I cannot find it at the present time. I personally think this is a better deal than spending ~$1700 on StopTech's kit, but I don't think I'm being totally fair either--haven't driven a car with the StopTechs yet.

Thank you! Yeah, I so far haven't liked the LED tails on other color tCs either, but to me they seem fine on the silver ones, plus the headlamps have similar chrome trim accents on black interior design and now my wheels with the polished rims really make the lights work better. I wonder how these would look if I smoked out the maber part with BlueBatmobile vinyls...
