Stock 2006 TC Headunit Glitches

1918 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  smeres
I just bought a 2006 TC and the headunit is showing some weird things.

1.) It only happens mostly when I first start up the car. I will turn the volume knob up and the headunit will either cycle through the cd's playlist or tune radio stations up, not increasing the volume like it is supposed to do.

2.) When I first warm up the car and turn on the radio it will automatically move one radio station down or up without touching anything.

What could this be?

Getting very annoying.

what could it be? how about a defective headunit? take it back to the dealer, make them give you another one..
How do I return it if it only happens once and a while. (Still annoying). Will they want to see the defect before they replace it? What if it dosn't "glitch" when they take a look at it?
well.. if the dealer won't listen to you about what you're telling them, try another dealer.. i did, got it replaced no problem (my 05 hu)..

i would do tha same thing!
Hey Smeres,
I have the same problem with my 06 HU. Did you have any luck with the dealer?
Hi.

I'm glad I'm not going crazy or something.

I have not taken it to the dealer yet.

It sure will be interesting to see what they say.

What is happening with you headunit fiat187?

What would you tell the dealer?

The station/track changes without any interaction from me. My radio will go from FM 100.5 to 100.7 or from Maxim 108 to CourtTV 110 on Sirius. If the HU is in disc mode, it will advance to the next track.

I plan on having the dealer take a look at it when I go in for the moonroof recall, the hatch rattle fix, and my 2nd oil change.
Good luck.

On Thursday I'm taking my car into the dealership to get the Bazooka sub and the short shift kit put in. I'll mention it to them what is happening. Maybe I'll print out this thread and show them I'm no the only one.

Let me know what they say to you about it.
So I took my car in today. First I had to take off work for it, which pissed me off in the first place. They had my car from 8am to 4pm to install the shift kit and the sub. The shift kit works well. They charged $255.00 to instal the thing. Is that expensive?
The sub sounds good. It dosn't seem to fit tight. They claim they tightened it to "Toyota Specifications" It's loose as hell.
TO TOP IT OFF
My steering wheel controls do not work.
Now I have to take it back in tommorow.
Do you think I deserve something for my troubles?
Anyone else experience anything like this?
Sub should sit flush. Shouldn't move. Your dealership's a bunch of clowns.
So.....

I take out the subwoofer form the box.....and there's bolts inside the box to tighten?

Are the bolts hard to get to?

What size wrench will I need?
