Is it an MP3 cd?

P.S. Black Flint Mica - is it like a dirty BSP?

i think it has to be "named" before you burn the mp3 onto a CD. If you use winamp, right click on the song, go to view file info and fill in the ID 3v1 Tag and ID 3v2 Tag.

Correct
WMP can "auto-name" your MP3s if you allow it in Tools->Options->Media Library. Of course it has to kinda guess what that MP3 file was first, but they do a good job based on other files in the folder, etc.

I never had that problem because I always have full albums, never had to copy single tracks. So WMP knows what it is and fixes ID3 tags for me if they are missing.
Depends on how/where you get your files. If you rip em yourself from CD's I've never seen winamp or musicmatch jukebox fail to find and name the mp3's If you download them though thats when things get dicy. Any number of things can cause it to get confused and then you have to input the information manualy. After trying MANY p2p programs, websites, ftp sites, etc... I find the best place to download is suprnova.org they have the largest collection of torrents and one of the easiest to use and search databases. Of course you will need a BitTorrent client to download them though. The best part about suprnova.org is you can often download whole cd's at once and serious users post there, so you will always find high quality, correctly named and often album art included downloads.

Disclaimer: While I think the RIAA is a bunch of ass holes and the record industry is just too greedy in general, I don't advocate "stealing" their "Intelectual Property" If you like the album go out and support the artist by buying it. If ya don't then good for you, you saved $20 and didn't buy that crap.

well its not mp3 cd's ...regular audio cd's. I'm gonna take a look in my manual when i get home. i changed the welcome greeting screen without any problems, wish i could throw in the names of cd's. but its really not a big deal, i just think it would look cool.

thanks for all the tips guys, preciate it
I don't think our Pioneer supports CD-Text, mostly Sony units do it and couple others...
yes the stock pioneer unit in the tC does support cd-text.. the info comes from the ID tag for mp3's.. on regular cd's it will supply the name of the track. I have burned regular audio CD's using Magix's audio cleaning lab 2005 and I type whatever I want to name the track and it pops up on the radio..
Then we know what Brad2005tC's problem is - his CD burning software did not includ CD-text info, or original MP3s did not have ID3 tags. Nero also support CD-Text when burning audio CDs.

I just realized that I have never listened to a plane old audio CD in my tC yet. All are CD-R or CD-RW mp3s - so easy to get used to good stuff.

Try 192Kbps and higher MP3s. http://www.allofmp3.com offers online encoding of the music they sell - up to 320Kbps - that's where there is no way you can tell MP3 from a CD-audio quality.

They are charging $.01/mb of downloaded music, which comes down to about a buck per album. They also claim that they are legit

Most music CDs that you buy in a store will not show a title on our head unit, because there are no titles programmed onto the discs. Some newer discs may do so, but I'm not sure.

Yah, I love that site
Most of the songs have an option for encoding directly from the CD right when you order it, so you know you're not getting someone's weird rip with a crappy encoder.

I disagree about being able to tell a difference in quality. Depends on both you and your stereo. I will say I doubt you can tell a difference between the two (even at a rate of 160Kbs) on your stock stereo in your car. I mean... it's not exactly an audiophile's system... Methinks it's in your head. Or, you've just used crappy encoders before. [To thread starter.]

Also, the whole burned CDs thing anyway: why not just download and rip music into a lossless format like WMALossless? I buy CDs all the time from Amazon new and used, so I typically get them for under $5. When I get them I rip the songs off the CD that I want into lossless WMA and burn my CDs from that when I want to listen to something on my home stereo. I also rip them to 160Kbs MP3 files for my portable players.

Unless you're one of those that luckily likes all the songs on one of their CDs, you're really missing out with the whole "no burned CDs" thing. I also think you're missing out by not trying out the MP3 CD feature. It's nice to have a few albums on one CD.

Question: Do you ever listen to the radio?

i do have over 200 burned cd's.... i listen to them all the time. Personally, Im a hip hop/rap & r & b producer, so i guess i might have the ear for quality, but its not that huge of a diff at all. I don't listen to the radio unless i have to (forgot the cds at the crib).

Well, that's cool. Whatever works for you. Personally, when I take into account wind noise, crappy speakers, and a crappy system: any loss by listening to an MP3 file is pretty much non-existant in comparison. At that point, "m going for convenience and size.

Now, at home I can't do that. I won't listen to MP3's on my home stereo, because it makes a larger difference.
Why'd you replace the tC's speakers with crappy ones?

Hey, we all have our own standards on speakers lol. You don't get real nice speakers on a car without paying an assload of money. Just how it is.

Yah, I'm not dissing the car by any means. I LOVE my car. I mean, hey I drive it every night just for kicks, and I wash it almost every other day lol. It's a sickness.

But, as you know, stock cars don't come with audiophile speakers. Personally, that doesn't bother me, because I don't see my car as a mobile stereo system. While I consider myself something of an audiophile, having great sound isn't high on my priority list for the car. Speed first. All other second.
