My scion has been stuttering during idle and I do maintenance regularly. I just changed the spark plugs yet it still sounds like it wants to turn off.

Check the fuses in the engine bay fuse box.

The rough, fluctuating, stumbling, hesitation, unstable idling was from the throttle body fuse. Installed a new 10amp mini fuse. Problem gone.

Removed & cleaned the throttle body, installed new iridium NGK spark plugs,
new fuel gas cap, cleaned all fuel injectors, new transmission flush & fill fluid, new transmission filter, new transmission pan gasket, new flush & fill engine oil, new engine oil pan gasket, OEM/factory engine oil filter, new cabin air filter, new engine air filter, new battery, ignition coils/packs still good.

Was still having that rough stumbling fluctuating high & low rpms. I wouldn't go away & eventually went into limp mode. 20mph wasn't fun at all.

Looked at the relays & fuses. Changed/replaced a few burned out fuses. Especially if one crosses the polarities. I burnt out the throttle body/aic air idle control 10amp fuse.

Hope this helps.
