Yeah, my friends and some people at work sorta' picked on me because I was being so obsessive about my car searching. I mean I was looking at all types of cars, reading reviews of everything, looking at CarFax reports on used ones, and subscribing to Consumer Reports to compare everything.
Now I'm seriously glad I got so obsessive, because I would have jumped on one of the many cars I looked at before I even saw something about the up-and-coming tC. Man that would've sucked!
I somehow missed the tC in my research... I was extremely close to buying a Civic Si, but I told my sales person I wanted to see a Corolla XRS. He called down to Toyota and they had none, but they did have "the car I was going to buy." We hopped in the Si and drove down - love at first sight. I had a white and a silver next to each other, drove them, and drove home in my silver tC. After getting home I did some post purchase research, and everything I've read has made me feel great about my choice.
I can tell you how much that sucks! I'm still trying to negotiate with the dealers to minimize my loss on the car I jumped into. Why didn't I test drive the tC first? Doh! I even tried selling it privately but didn't get any offers that were significantly higher than the dealer to warrant the extra work involved in doing it myself.
If nothing else, my plight should definitely reassure you all that your purchase was a good one, since I'm basically going to be shelling out about 2 grand into thin air just to get one o' these babies. Coming up on almost a month of having a celica, I'm fairly certain that this feeling isn't just buyer's remorse... the tC just destroys it in every aspect.
