it's on this site somewhere, but i believe you have to take the bumper at least partially off to get at the last screw
removin tail lights?
hey guys im trying to remove my tail lights, because im trying to smoke them and i need to take them off to paint them. My problem is I took off the three screws, but then it seems that the bottom is stuck on something and im not sure how to get it off?

Check the manual in the part about replacing tail light bulbs.

(reverse for removal)
1. INSTALL REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the pin, and then install the rear combination
light assembly.
(b) Install the 3 nuts.
© Connect the connector.
2. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER
(a) Install the rear floor service hole cover.
3. INSTALL REAR BUMPER COVER
(a) Attach the 14 claws to install the bumper cover.
(b) Install the 4 screws and 4 clips.
Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf)
does anybody still have the instructions that came with the tyc lights?
it takes about 15 minutes after you do it the first time.
Im very sorry for asking you this question, because it has obviously upset you very much. I apologize whole heartedely! And yes i looked in the manual and it only tells you how to change the light bulbs, not take out the whole tail light, so i dont know why you are mad. Correct; the manual does not describe how to remove the tail lamp assemblies, only how to swap out bulbs.
You will need to undo two bolts in the rear wheel well behind the lip around two hours to the rear of 12 o'clock, and then at the very bottom rear of the well where the bottom of the bumper cover mates are two pop clips that need to be undone as well. Once that is done, very carefully pull outward on the leading edge of the bumper cover from each wheel well and then keep pulling out and back to release the sides of the bumper cover at the top. Once the sides are released, you can undo the black screws in the plastic section where the top of the bumper cover meets the bottom of the hatch and then just pull back on the bumper cover to release it. As you do this, you will see how the tail lamp assemblies catch to the bumper cover; as soon as this happens, it should be fairly intuitive how you release the clips on the tail lamp assemblies from the bumper cover.

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I got my bumper off and smoked my tail lights it turned out pretty good, I like it. Will post pics up later today in the member pics forum.
i have the opposite of his problem, i cant get the bolts off the tail lights, the nut is screwed so tight to the bolt its ridiculous! plz ayuda me.

check the toyota sparks website and under the tyc taillights section there is a pdf in the right upper hand corner that has directions how to take them off and change the taillights. I k now cause I just did it
