Oh, the drama invloved with this situation....this may get long, my appologies in advance!
I bought the TC from Clair Toyota in Dedham MA, and they sucked. They kept on pushing me back and back on the delivery, but I figured it was ok cause of the high demand. When I took delivery they hadn't installed my light kit, and didnt tell me until I was about to drive off the lot. I finally noticied and asked and the guy delivering the car where it was and he had no idea... turns out the part was back ordered and they didnt order it until the car got to the dealer... IMHO they should have ordered it when I ordered the car so everything could have been installed at once.
Anyways they gave me the run around and I finally got it installed, but that experience cupled with them continually telling me one thing and doing another (even down to little things like getting me a scion key chain instead of the two crummy plastic Clair one I got) led me to call Scion and let them know how they dont have it together.
Scion was good and they supposedly followed up on it, and when I was talking to a rep he asked if there were any problems with the car. I said "no, just that the moonroof pops once in a while." He thought that was the end of the world and transfered me to a "specialist" in this area, Sol, and she helped me set up an appointment with Boch Toyota in Norwood, MA because I didnt want Clair touching my car. I was happy because Sol was really nice and said that they would get this fixed for me and that there was documentation on how to fix it. I thought this was a TSB, or something along those lines.
Anyways, I have my GF drop off the car to get fixed this past Monday AM, and the guy who was going to work on the car said he knew what the problem was already and it would get fixed by 5 that night. Sweet! IM happy cause I was under the impression it was going to last much longer than that.
I get to Boch at 5:30, hadnt gotten a phone call to tell me to do anything different, and I find out that nothing got done. I mean the guy even asked me, "
Ok, there is a def popping noise, I heard it.... so when does it happen?" Im like if you heard it, then wouldnt you know when it happens? Anyways I told him it happens when the roof is open or closed and mostly when im comming out of a drive way to turn into traffic...basically when the frame stretches.
So now this guy is up to speed, so I ask him... Wasnt there documentation on how to address this? And he says there is none and he never heard about it.
Ok, maybe hes a bad mechanic, or there is a communication breakdown somewhere... but I shouldn't be playing middle man and be the one who has to figure this out.
So yesterday,I get a call and he tells me that he has just fixed it by untightening the bolt to bring it into spec. But I havnt been able to pick it up yet because Ive been at work late.
So back to your question... I dont know if ithe fix works. I dont know if someone got on the horn and told him what to do(becasue I called Scion the next day and called them out on the no documentation thing), or if he just figured it out himself. I'm just hoping it works, the Chevy Malibu Im driving as a rental now sucks!!!!
And I LOVE this car...its my first new one and I'm trying to take the best care of it that I can, but if its not fixed Im just going to leave it there and start playing the "I want my money back" card because in all honesty Scion has not been treating my situation well. I know it sounds extreme, but I'm fed up.
So I'll let youb know tonight or tom what the deal is, and hopefully it will be a good post!!!
