Well, from the 10 th to today- the 19th i was on vacation at a house on the beach at Long Beach, Ontario. Its about an hour drive from my house (Buffalo NY). I cross the peace bridge no problem, on the bridge i take down my radar detector and put it under my seat. (Radar Detectors are prohibited in Canada) About a mile down the road i see lights in my rear view, and pull over. I stopped, turned to my window and look in my rearview and see the cop running to my car. He asked me " where is it"? I replied, "Where is what?" dont you have a radar detector, i said yes, and pulled it out from under my seat. He Grabbed it out of my hands and took my licence back to his car, Came back with a 170 dollar ticket, and told me i could not get my detector back! Great way to start my vacation huh? The rest was very good though, Ohhhhh Canada...........

i'd fight that one in canadian court.. unless he has proof you had it on (radar detector..detector) then there is no reason to take it, unless he wanted to sell it on ebay.. i've gone into canada with a radar detector on the windshield, and the guy at the bridge just said "you know those are illegal here".. i apologized and showed him i was putting it in the glove box.. he said "yeah sorry about that".. nice guy..
but yes they are illegal in canada.. if he didn't see it on and working i don't see how he can just grab it from ya.. it's not like you were importing cocaine.. sheesh..
fight that.. that's crazy.. yeah here's a thought.. don't pay his fine.. let him try to come over to the US and try to collect, they'd need the FBI.. and i doubt the FBI has the resources to waste their time on a ticket..

If you go to court tell them you want to see proof of where you had it turned on. And yes they can prove if you had it on. I know in VA I got pulled a year ago and the cop said I had mine on. I told him I wanted to see the read out, he then told me not to worry about it he wasn't writing me a ticket.
But yeah fight it, I know in the US they can't take your equipment they can only give you a ticket.

He did have a detector detector, Im just going to pay it and buy another detector, it was a whistler, not a very expensive one. The cop was a total jerk about it too, i had it under my seat, not in use, just forgot to unplug it and he didnt give a ####, and honestly treated me like i smuggled a pound of drugs over the boarder. You live and you learn i guess.

but iwas in Canada about a year ago...about 10 days shy of my 19th b-day...and thought I'd go into a casino and lose about 20 bucks.....because in cali the age for gambling is 21....i walk up to the doors and the guys turn me away cuz the legal gambling age is 19......NINTEEN......WTF.......who sets their gambling age to 19?? I'm telling you Canadia is all messed up....must be the hockey, ehh? LOL
