Often the "blue" coating on bulbs is cheap and once they are turned on part of it burns off to create the purple you are seeing, led is a better way to go if you can fab it that way.

did anybody else order the 4 LED festoon in blue from "Super Bright LEDs" for the rear dome light? mine looks kinda purple-ish. i don't think you'd even notice if you looked at it alone, but compared to all the other blue in my car, it looks very purple. the wavelength is all wrong. from the outside it looks like i have crappy tints on the back that turned purple. i don't like it at all. i do have some extra blue LED's left over from another project, so maybe i'll make my own... and this one will match!
is mine just the wrong bulb or a mistake at Super Bright, or has anyone else experienced this? it's too blue to be a purple bulb, but definitely not ~470nm wavelength. it's too far to the red. just a warning to those planning this mod.
I did an exchange. So yeah i returned the purple one for the blue. It sounds like you may just have to try ordering it again.Originally posted by peglegskier@Oct 24 2005, 12:43 PM
thanks brian!
did you have to return the purple bulb? i sorta destroyed mine to make it the right color. it now, but it's held together with solder and hot glue lol.
I have learned that in the world of aftermarket lighting, "super white" or "hyper white" mean blue.Originally posted by Azrael@Oct 24 2005, 09:14 PM
I got white ones, and they look kinda blue.
