hey guys,

normally i would wash my brand new tc, but now i live in an apt complex and i dont have the room or facilities for it. i'd like to just take it to one of those hand car wash places to get it washed, waxed, inside cleaned, etc. do any of you do this? what are your opinions on letting other people wash your car?

Only you will care about your car the way you want it to be cared about.

did you guys not read what i said? i cant wash it myself because i live in an apt complex, and i dont feel like driving 45 minutes to my parents house to wash it.

or maybe i could just use one of those self service car washes where you put the quarters in and its on a timer. how about that?

I live at an apartment complex also but I wash it myself. The apartments I have lived at all have water outlets (word choice??). How much do those places charge? Back home they cost around $45-$65 for a full wash/detail (and they do an excellent job, passed by some of the cars they finished detailed like an S600 with chromies...so sexy -drools-) but I'm not sure about interior. Back at college town those places charge $160 for a wash, wax, detail and interior steam clean. That might be what you are talking about. If you absolutely can't wash your car then taking it to someone else is your only option but like most others, no one washes my car except me.

You could take it to one of those places, just make sure to bring your own brushes and sponges. The ones they have will scratch the crap out of your car.

I read what you said. Your final question was "what are your opinions on letting other people wash your car?"

Like I said, no one washes my car buy me, meaning I'm not a fan of letting someone else do it.

I recommend touch-free car washes. They are the exact same prices as the regular gas station car washes. $5-$7. I tried it once cause I was curious and it actually did a pretty good job but I was expecting it to actually get EVERYTHING off and clean. There was some dirt near the mud guard area but other than that area it was spotless. Oh and it 'auto dries' so you won't have to dry it.

I don't mind the hand-wash places--I usually go to more reputuable places of course--usually closer to a higher-income neighborhood, and ones that usually have alot of higher-end cars going through it. The one I used to go to charged 10.95, but they did an excellent job. It did get expensive after a while though-- with tip it came out to about $13.

Now, I just go to a self service place, bring my own bucket and wash mitts (they actually don't allow bucket washing there, but there's no way i'm using that brush!) and just do it myself--costs about $4 total (not including supplies) and my time.

I may just go back to the car wash place again though (once a month maybe?) once things start to get busy again.

btw, after i'm done at the full-service place, i'll usually take it right home and wax it myself (I always dust it first, though).

hey you should just do a search for a mobile detailer. my boyfriend does mobile detailling in the sacramento area.. he charges 35 for a wash (interior included) and he meets people at their houses.. or at their work. He has his own water and generator out of a trailer. Maybe there is someone around you who does what he does. Hope I helped!!

mobile detailing can be expensive. but, once a year i think everyone should take their car into a pro and let them give it the works. keeps it looking and smelling great, and helps on resale value. but, as someone who takes trade-ins, i have seen the worst sh!t, and i refuse to let my tC slide in appearance.

That's a good deal. I drove back up to school last night and had murdered many bugs... so I went to a touch-free car wash called Scrubs, paid $7 and got the whole works. Excellent job and it dries spot free.
