opinions on the tC's engine

i am very impressed with how the engine performs.....i was thinking about getting the supercharger when it comes out but now i am questioning whether it would be worth it.

hey thanks......was bored at work today so i figured i would through something together.

Anyone find a slight engine vibration at about 4k rpms? A little buzz sort of thing?

Yes. Honestly I don't find this engine all that smooth... It's great up to about 4k, but then it gets twice as loud and just seems like it's struggling.

Ok well at least it's not my engine. It doesn't feel like it's a piece of crap, it's just that if I have the clutch in and I rev, at about 4k and higher there is some vibration that resonates into car.

Exactly. It doesnt' feel like the engine is going to fly out of the car or anything, but there's no doubt there's a difference between 3,500RPM and 4,500RPM.

could it be where the vvt-i is adjusting for more power?? otherwise is it a loose exhaust pipe? just throwing stuff out there.. i haven't had it 4k rpms yet.. still breaking my tC in..

I need to get in another tC and rev it...

There are some RPM points in an engine where the harmonic balance will be off by a little. I do see what you are saying though, because mine does it at 600rpm.....kinda shakes the car a little! Unless its a severe high-speed vibration, i wouldnt worry to much about it....- t

Yeah I hear you T - but even my beaten '95 Camry engine was smoother than my tC through the rev band. I'm going to try and shoot over to Toyota tommorow to check another tC out.
