I got mine on without soapy water and with a little more elbow grease.

I agree. Easy to put on w/o the soap, but with some elbow grease. Personally, unless you really like the looks, I would not get them for an automatic. For a manual, they work much better than the factory originals in that they let the shoes slip for easier heel-and-toe shifting.

Why would you go through the hassle of downshifting with heel and toe... It's main use is for maintaining speed when exiting out of a drift or any kind of real sharp turn.

You, my friend, are one major car enthusiast to downshift heel and toe style all the time.
