New Mitsubishi Eclipse

263hp sounds like fun. $11K depreciation in the first two years doesn't.

Drive someone who has one :-D I believe I have seen one around. Doesn't look too bad but def wouldn't buy a Mitsu.

My bf and I test drove a black one a month or two ago.. he suggested I trade in my tC for one and I didnt want it. I guess i dont like the look of it.. the back has less room than before

I really like the new look of the '06 Eclipse, but there's no room in the back at all.

I think they look like any other car unless you lower it... you'll notice in all the commercials and ads, they're lowered... I saw one at the gas station a day or two after the local dealership got 'em in down the street from my office & it didn't catch my eye at all. Had I not been stopped at a light and looking around, I would have missed it. Of course all of the shots in the ads are from the right angles... in person it was very avg. looking...

They look a lot like every other small coupe, there is one that always tries to park next to my tC in the lot. They have this really ugly ass plastic cover in the back that covers the cargo area. The V-6 is cool, and with the rights mods will be one hell of a contender, but the 4 cyl...why bother for more money that the tC ???

I hate the new eclipse. Mitsubishi is practically retarded when it comes to making cars other than the evo. You cant tell the rear from the front and a 3.8liter engine in what is or was suppose to be a sport compact?? The gas milage for that thing is almost the same as my moms minivan. For a 270hp v6 it isnt exactly fast for a two door. The handling on that car must be #### too with all that weight. The price for that thing isnt exactly great either. An MSRP of 24k?? add a few accersories and #### like that and be prepared to pay 26+ not including tax and destination charges. For that kind of money you might as well save up a few more thousand and buy a evo. The one car that mitsubishi has ####ed up.

and another few thousand to keep it maintained..hear a lot of must bes and could bes...rather hear some are's and aren'ts

I like them. But I would agree for that price I would save a few thousand more and hook up a used supra. The eclipse would never stand a chance against the 2jz. And the Supra looks about 10 times better.

Or spend 2-3K more and get a WRX STi

or for 20 grand you could buy a fox body and buy a crate motor then....blah blah blah, it is what it is. the argument over what someone could buy for more is ill founded and will continue on endlessly. is the eclipse, he said eclipse, a good buy or attractive, etc...? bottom line, if someone likes it theyll pay what they feel is reasonable for the car irregardless of what some other car is priced at. do i enjoy Jackson Pollock paintings? yes, would i pay over 3 million for one? no but someone will.. cars like many other things are subject to personal tastes.

next thing i know someones gonna tell me for ten dollars more i could have bought adidas superstars instead of chuck taylors, and for twenty dollars more i could have bought new balances, on and on and on

It's heavy and it's got a big engine, so I guess that compensates. It's certainly a lot faster than the last eclipse. And a person on clubrsx testdrove and thought the inside build quality and driving was sufficient. I am thinking it's along the lines of...say the honda accord coupe? Made to look or be sporty, but mostly a comfortable cruiser?

Just thought I would bring this up. There's already been a recall for that car
