New HU, steering wheel controls?

Ok here is my issue...I am working on the last peice to the puzzle which is my head unit...now from what I hear when I get my new head unit the steering wheel controls will not work...is this accurate? If it is accurate then what component must I get so that I can be able to use my steering wheel controls.

I am getting the Pioneer Premier DEH-P80MP.

I basically want to know what it is going to take for me to be able to use my steering wheel controls.
