my stock tc vs mini cooper s on 1/4 mile

so i went to the track tonight over in bithlo (orlando) and raced my tc for the first time. just as i expected i would run mid 16s and the cooper beat me of course. we ended up racing both times in a row...what a coincidence. and both times i had a better launch and 60 foot, but after about 30 mph his supercharger went woooosh and left me about 4 or 5 car lengths behind by the time we finished. i have my timeslip...actually left it in the car...but too lazy to get it, but i will post it on here when i get the chance, but just for an idea the times were something like this......

my tc: 1/4 mile: 16.4
mph: 84
60' : 2.4

cooper s: 1/4 : 15.7
mph: 91
60' :2.5

this was only my 1st time so i know i could do better maybe get a really low 16 next time, but launches are my weakness...but so you all know i launched at about 2500 rpm and shifted just about every gear at 5800 rpm

next time i go ill prob launch at about 2200, shift past 6000 rpms and maybe i should do a little burn out too to warm the tires up...

i would greatly appreciate any tips!

launching takes practice. your times should improve to around a 15.5 stock if you get it down.
them little s type's are quick bastards.

edit : i stand corrected, the cooper s is listed at 2550lbs, and 161hp, with a 7.3 0-60 and a 15.8 quarter mile. wonder what the gearing is like in those.

still, pretty quick little bastards.
No way u do 15.5 stock in a tC...the tires are shi**ty so average times are like 15.8-16.2....I have not yet seen 15.5 from a totally stock tC with NO upgrades...But 16.4 just is kinda too slow also...You should atleast take the tC to redline when you race and try powershifting for better times....I think it helps to P/S when needed...
i launch my car at 3000. and i pull 2.2 60' times all day. even on my stock tires i was getting 2.2-2.3 60' times. when i had the stock tires (which was also the first 2 times i had gone to the track with it) i was launching it around 2500-2800. i shift mine just before redline. i also speed shift it. i dont power shift it because i dont feel comfortable doing it. tried it before didnt like it. it just takes a little time to learn how your car reacts when you race it on the track. also when you do your burn out, since you are on street tires you dont have to put up a cloud of smoke. do just enough of a burnout to dry them off and just warm them up a little. too much of a burnout on regular street tires can actually cause you to spin more off the line.

With a stage 0 turbo from ZPI, you would smoke the little bastards. It only cost $2800.

only $2800...You must be rich...also the stage 0 turbo doesnt come with any of the intercooler pipings and also an intercooler...whats the point of it???...
$2800 is cheap.
$2800 + $600 or so install + warranty delete. Not so cheap.
My thoughts exactly. Cheap if you don't mind throwing reliability and daily drivability to the four winds. It might be OK. Likely it won't.

It is but with no fuel management I'd be looking elsewhere.
^^^ well said.

i squeezed some time to get the slip and take a pic of it, it came out kinda blurry but if you have good eyes u can see it with a little bit of effort

done and done!
Take down the pic. The link is much easier to read and fits on the screen. Even at 1600 x 1200 on a 21.3" monitor, I have to scroll to see this thing, and it's still not legible.
