Mazda 6

Way back from the Beach tonight this drunk moron in a mazda 6 was riding my tail, when it opened up to 2 lanes he took off like a total retard, and eventually slowed down next to me. Orange paint, aftermarket dual exhaust, and an AEM licence plate(leads me to believe he had a CAI). I drop it into 3rd at about 55 and he hits it before me, slowly pulled away, at about 90 he was about 2-3 cars on me. I have the K&N CAI and the Injen Exhaust. I was very happy with the TC's performance vs a 220 Stock hp car, plus intake, Exhaust, and who knows what else. Anyone else encounterd a 6? Im getting my header early next week!, wish i woulda had that on already, woulda been closer for sure!

And the funniest part is that after we had the little race, his buddy in the passenger seat leans out the window giving me the finger. Do you feel good that your car ( with 60 extra horses) beat me by 2 cars?? I wouldnt!

How did you know it was v6 mazda 6. Even if it was good race. 2 car lenght is nothing comparing the 60 hp more.
It had to be the 6 cyl, my buddy has the 4 and the car is not quick, my car eaily beats it. Same Hp and weighs almost 500 lbs more!
yeah i know my bro's got the 4 cyl and its really slow, but still if he had some more staff like headers, intake catless exausts and all that might have been the 4 cyl. But nice kill even thou he won.

Ive got the intake and Exhaust!!, and if it was the 4 he wouldnt have pulled that much on me! haha even if he had a header, and another 10 hp than my mods on my engine, once again he is 500 lbs heavier!
I encountered a 6 several months back and it was barely able to pull away from me. It was unimpressive for a V6, to say that least.
I seriously hope you arent serious abotu him being drunk because thats pretty stupid of you racing him. Mazda 6s arent really quick cars especially the i4. My cousin has one and that thing is pathetic. It is a very practical car with a fairly nice interior for its price.
yes they are pretty slow. I guess when the mazda6speed come out we wont be able to even have 1 car lenght behind them
. But then again ones i put a turbo in my tC guess what's going to happen.

Then again the mazdaspeed 6 with about 276hp and weighing well over 3600lbs is doing 0-60 in the low 6's which is still well behind the subaru legacy 2.5gt. The choice is obvious for a japanese turboed 4 banger w/awd.
Good grief that weighs more than a Supra, and they are fat pigs for weight at 3415 lbs (hardtop 6 speed, actual measured weight).

yea, but 3415 lbs suddenly seems featherweight once you're pushing 1000hp, ya know?
Only in a straight line. When the road curves, nothing beats low mass.
FACTS-Mazda sucks, the only true racer mazda has is the rx-7 turbo...All other mazdas are in the high 14's (rx-8) and even still 15's when theyre turbocharged...I personally think mazda needs some work on their cars...Mazda=American made...I raced a mazdaspeed protege w/BOV, exhaust and who knows what else and still was able to beat him 1st-2nd gear and when he beat me he never even had a car length on me at speeds above 80 mph...Im all stock also...
I also raced a mazdaspeed protege with intake, exhaust and other small modifications and murdered him off the start...we were even until fourth and then i started to pull away....the speed sucks(all i have is intake and hoping for exhaust and headers...any suggestions?)

Are we talking about the mazdaspeed protege? Because those are capable low 15 second cars....It's possible to beat one, but with a good driver, I don't see that happening.

And quit it with the fanboy remarks. Mazda is really the only other company besides BMW ( in my opinion) that is marketed towards the "driver's" car. They don't have a lot of models with lots of hp, but almost all of their models seem a lot more exciting than their competition. Mazda6 is more exciting than an accord/camry, and so is the mazda3 over the civic and corolla.

Who cares if it is American made, their reliability isn't that bad, and the corvette is american made, yet it beats out a ton of more expensive cars?

The RX-8 is a capable at least mid 14 second car. It's faster than the RSX-S, and that is a high 14 second car.

The Miata is also a very well balanced sports car, in my opinion. Very excellent handling for the price, it's like a more affordable s2k.

Miatas are legendary. Great handling little car, all the stuff you want right from the factory. Double wishbone suspension on all four corners, rear drive, everything the way it needs to be to go fast without problems.

There are lots of other Mazdas besides the FD that are decent cars.

Indeed. And sometimes, in my opinion, raw performance numbers aren't everything. Of course, they DO contribute to the driving feel, but what some people fail to realize is the actual driving experience itself. Certain cars may not be the fastest nor the fastest in a track, but it's quite possible that they could be a lot more fun to drive than "better" performing cars.
My dislike for Mazda is well-chronicled and completely irrelevant. In my opinion, the most valuable thing said in this thread is the following statement:

I stand with my statement...Mazda SUCKS...you cant compare an rx-8 with an rsx-S, theyre in like totally different classes and price ranges...Also OO the rx-8 isnt much better then the rsx-S in daily driving, Ive driven them both and the rx-8 is only better by a tinny bit....Also look at the prices for mazda's comparing to their classes...mazdas are pretty spendy
You're right, you can't compare them. One is a proper RWD sports vehicle, the other is a sporty FWD econobox. Glad you have an opinion, but I don't have to respect it as informed or based on any kind of analysis I might consider valid. Thanks for posting, I think we're all done here.
