Mass airflow check engine light

So recently I noticed my mass air flow light coming on and so I replaced the air filter on my cold air intake but it is still there. I noticed a difference in gas mileage and some strange engine behavior which I can only assume is from the air-fuel mixture being off. Should I replace the sensor? Or is it a different issue? The code for the light is P0101

Try cleaning it first. Use Gumout or MAF cleaner spray. Do not rub or scrub the amber sensor, just air dry or gentle clean compress air dry. I had found that if the sensor is a light amber color it should be fine, but mine was a dark amber and had to be replaced.

when you say amber light are you talking about the dash light?
No, when you take off the Mass Air Flow sensor( held by two small screws usually on air intake duct), you will see something like a tiny amber light bulb. You may see small dust particles covering it and that is what you want to clean. Don't scrub or touch it but just gently spray wash and gently blow air dry.

Clogged catalytic converter maybe? That can cause that code also
