This is the first car I've owned with ABS.

It snowed today for the first time. As I was driving down my street I decided to test the car and see how it did in slippery conditions. I got up to about 30 and then firmly pressed the brake. The pedal vibrated and made a very strange metal scrapping sound until I came to a stop.

Is that normal ABS function or is something wrong?

The Accord I used to drive had ABS, and I think it made the same sound...

The ABS control solenoids cycling the brakes on and off very rapidly. The all make the noise, it's a great indicator that you've passed lock up.

Take a break man. Them things is called brakes. And you'd better hope they don't break when you need them.
