I am thinking about buying the K&N filter (part #33-2300) for my new Scion tC. Even if the fuel economy is not improved by 1-2mpg and horsepower is not increased by 1-2hp, I plan on having this car for sometime and it makes sense to me to have a re-usable air filter for economic reasons. None of the stores I have visited online seem to list it for the 2006 model, I am assuming that the filter for the 2005 model will fit?

Also, I noticed these 3 stores have the filter for $36.40 w/FREE S&H. They are all located in CA. Anyone ordered from one of these?

I ordered a part from http://www.partsandaccessories.com/ and had no problem. The part was from one of my other cars.

Just curious.....have you checked into the K&N's ability to filter as well as the OEM filter? it can't. It does not catch small particles as well. According to K&N it will not violate your warranty...but they also do not claim to meet OEM specs either. Just adding my 2 cents. I am not one of there bigger fans and I have used their products before and experienced more small residue in the intake pipe after the filter in my Fiat Spider. Don't know if it did any harm...but did not like what I saw.

Yea i've been reading the debate on the whole K&N thing. I had one in my 300zx and 350z. Can't say that I notice any difference other than the sound. The re-usability was nice. Seems like people either stand by the filters or knock them. I might hold off. I am buying a Stillen hi-flow for my twin turbo 300zx, and that gives 20HP gain for $100.00, then again it isn't a naturally aspirated motor.

How often are they OEM filters supposed to be replaced anyway? I don't want to order it until I need to change my existing filter anyway. I have 1300 miles on my car.

your scheduled maintenance guide you got with your car says 30K miles for the airfilter. mine was ready at 20K, so check it. i followed zoltiz's lead after my supercharger install and used a K&N filter from an avalon (happened to have one on the workbench while installing the s/c, how convenient).
