hello to all of you. as a new member of this forum i have only one request to ask of everyone that is a member. please dont try to be a father figure to people on this website. if people want to race there cars on the street then thats what they are going to do. you can be as carefull as you possibly can be when your racing and not have a single thing happen to you all day long. but then on the way home when you are driveing nice and slow someone else that just plain and simply arent paying attention to what they are doing can hit you head on or something. also this is listed as a racing section of the forums so you are going to have plenty of people talking about getting into races on the streets. im not trying to sound like an a$$ hole here but i just hate going to forums and reading replys of people saying to be careful or you shouldnt be doing that or anything like that.

thanks

We all do stupid stuff. Don't post stories on here about the stupid stuff you do if you're not prepared for other people to comment on it. Make sense?

I just don't want to hear bullshit about people racing on city streets, highways with tons of traffic around, or anything reckless. I don't care that much for street racing so long as its done with some prudence (if that's ever possible), but you know what I mean.

Dead on the money. If you aren't wanting to hear criticism, don't post. Nobody here is shy about posting an opinion even if it isn't the one you'd like to hear.

i didnt mean that as saying people shouldnt post stuff talking about it or anything like that. post whatever stories you want to post about on here. all im asking is that if you dont like hearing about streetracing or think its a good idea or anything then why do you even read threads about them. people have been street raceing for over 50 years or more. its not anything new. there isnt anything that can be said to warn people or to explain that it shouldnt be done that we havent all heard already. so why put people threw hearing the same thing over and over again. i dont care if people leave comments saying how someone cant drive or that guys an idiot or anything like that. i just know that i get tired of hearing it everytime someone says they raced in town or something like that and im sure im not the only person who feels this way.

How about we post stuff like this:

QUOTE

A 16-year-old girl died early Tuesday morning, and two others were clinging to life, after a street race ended in a horrific crash in Kirkland.

Officers say the drivers of a blue Mitsubishi with white racing stripes, and a red convertible Mustang are to blame for the accident on Northeast 124th Street just after 4:30 p.m. Monday.

An 18-year-old Redmond man and a 16-year-old Kirkland girl, were racing eastbound on 124th, Kirkland Police Lt. Bill Hamilton told KOMO 4 News.

In the 11000 block, the man's Mitsubishi allegedly cut in front of the girl's Mustang, clipping her car. They both lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic.

That's when the Mustang slammed into a Dodge sedan. The innocent driver trapped in the middle was an 87-year-old man.

He was driving a car so old, it only had lap seat belts.

He, along with the two people in the Mitsubishi, were airlifted to the hospital.

"And this poor gentleman in the Dodge was simply driving down the road, and the actions of the two drivers were just dumb and the gentleman is in the hospital because of it," said a police officer.

Both the 18-year-old boy and the 16-year-old girl were arrested and could face vehicular homicide charges.

A Harborview Medical Center Nursing Supervisor said the elderly man was in critical condition and the 18-year-old driver remained in serious condition. The 16-year-old who died, was a passenger in the young man's Mitsubishi.[/b]
Or this:

QUOTE
Two Lexington County teenagers have been charged in a crash that killed two people last week.

Hahn Thu Diep, 17, of West Columbia, has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide and one count of racing on a public road.

Caspur Matthew Snelling, also 17, of Gaston, has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to reckless homicide and one count of racing on a road.

Diep's two-year-old son, Ethan Ming Diep, and 16-year-old Krystle Ann Lovett, died in the crash last Thursday. Officials say the toddler and teen were riding in the back seat of a car that Diep was driving.

Pine Ridge police say Diep and Snelling were racing when Diep lost control of her car, which was struck by a pickup truck.[/b]

I'm not going to say I've never been involved in a street show of power, it would be a flagrant lie, but luck isn't always on your side, and worst of all, it might not be you who gets removed from the gene pool. I guarantee you every time I woke up on a race day the last thing I was thinking about was sliding across the pavement in my leathers or smacking into some solid object and causing personal injury. But stuff happens. And it happens to OTHER people. That's what makes it bad. Think about it before you decide you have something to "prove."
There's no trophy. No prize list. Not even bragging rights. It's like the Sprite commercial. So what did you win?

apparently everyone is miss understanding what im saying a little bit. im not trying to sound like i approve of street raceing in town or in traffic im just saying that it happens. it actually causes alot less accidents then regular driveing accidents. the only reason people make such a big deal out of it is bc of the fact that it was racing. i know of an accident that happened on interstate 70 less than a year ago involving an ambulance. the ambulance was heading for the hospital with a pregnant mother in the back when all of a sudden the ambulance crossed the middle of the interstate into oncomeing traffic and caused a really bad accident. the driver of the ambulance was killed. bad accidents happen to everybody under some type of unfortunate situation. no accident ending in a death is fortunate. i just dont think that we need to hear everytime someone posts a toppic talking about how they got in a race in town. people either no how to be responsible about it or they dont. its just sometimes they dont find out that they dont know how to be responsible about it until its too late.

What you want people to say?

"Congratulations, your a dumbass!"

Seriously though. This is a forum. IE: people speak their minds. Maybe we should make rules requesting people not talk about president bush. Or iraq. No posting your opinion about porno, crash test dummies, no opinions about guns or videogames or lollypops or soda-pop. No talking about your opinion about anything, because someone doesnt want to hear it, but might read it accidently and get offended.

What a typical american attitude. All this bullsh*t and bitching about "oh dear, i've been offended!" Seems to be the trend lately, no one thinks anyone should ever be faced with anything they find even remotely offensive/inane/pointless/etc. Newsflash... the constitution does not protect you against being offended.

I'm gonna stop there.

tell stories. but dont jump on people for posting their opinions. i certainly dont need a father figure on this site, either. and i DO NOT condone illegal street racing. but it doesnt mean it doesnt happen, and it doesnt mean people arent going to talk about it. and that happens to be what this forum is for. an outlet for people to tell racing stories. someone posted they didnt want to read about it. cool. i dont want to read about oprah, so i dont open her magazine. i get what our new friend (if you guys havent scared him away) is saying. and i agree.
