I gotcha greenfire, I saw his other post and responded to it the other day... Some kids never learn. They think the rev limiter is the "man" trying to keep them from being true racers or something equally stupid. *shrugs.

When I was 15 my first job was at a VW/Volvo dealership washing the cars on the lot... This kid got a brand new passat for his 18th b-day, I gassed it up and washed it when they sold it... well, 3 weeks later they tow it back the the dealer, seems the kid had been racing and had messed with the rev limiter, and missed a shift from 3rd to 4th, dropped the clutch into 2nd at 70mph+, blew the engine, it was amazing the dammage, the intake and exhaust valves broke off and dropped into the cylinders, and the cylinders kept chuggin away for a good mile while he coasted to a stop wondering like an idiot what he did to his car... when they opened the engine up there were holes in the cylinder walls, holes in the pistons, and globules of metal fused into the sides of the cylinder walls... Complete and total destruction. It was beautiful.
Kids dad tried to pass it off like it was the dealers fault, and threatened to sue to get the engine covered by the waranty. The owner of the dealership just laughed at him. He ended up buying it out of pocket.
