One day a Integra came next to me and i noticed that it was one of my friends and i knew what set up he had so i was like " eH " ill just see what my car has.. we both got to a light and we were just waiting until it hit green... once it did we both had a great launch off of first and threw 2nd... when i shifted to 3rd i noticed that i shifted first before the integra and i knew my motor could handle more... he crept really hard.. i barely lost to him by a fender... i was suprised that a car like this could do so much...

Definitely a new addition to Labfish's club. Chirped in third? You're beating the crap out of that car. Got lotsa money for rebuilding everything in a few thousand miles?

Why dont you raise the rev limiter.
Why? What do you expect to gain from it in an otherwise stock car?

I gotcha greenfire, I saw his other post and responded to it the other day... Some kids never learn. They think the rev limiter is the "man" trying to keep them from being true racers or something equally stupid. *shrugs.

Guys like this make me wish for the old days when over-revving meant rods sticking out of the side of the block. That always teaches a good lesson.

When I was 15 my first job was at a VW/Volvo dealership washing the cars on the lot... This kid got a brand new passat for his 18th b-day, I gassed it up and washed it when they sold it... well, 3 weeks later they tow it back the the dealer, seems the kid had been racing and had messed with the rev limiter, and missed a shift from 3rd to 4th, dropped the clutch into 2nd at 70mph+, blew the engine, it was amazing the dammage, the intake and exhaust valves broke off and dropped into the cylinders, and the cylinders kept chuggin away for a good mile while he coasted to a stop wondering like an idiot what he did to his car... when they opened the engine up there were holes in the cylinder walls, holes in the pistons, and globules of metal fused into the sides of the cylinder walls... Complete and total destruction. It was beautiful.

Kids dad tried to pass it off like it was the dealers fault, and threatened to sue to get the engine covered by the waranty. The owner of the dealership just laughed at him. He ended up buying it out of pocket.

Ricers....

i did that before once, but i never messed with the rev limit... it was like 3-4 years ago...i was 17 and driving a 99 civic si it had almost 50,000 miles.. i was racing in stockton,ca on arch... i was racing threw the whole night.. my friend had a 96 black cvc hb b16a squeezing.. we raced CBI's 4 door civc that night i think..

well what happen was that i was racing and i was in 3rd gear and i power shifted into 4th but i miss shifted into 2nd and blew up my first motor...

... i didnt call my parents cause what would that do... just get me more lectures and if your asian you know what i mean by this... lectures and lectures... so i just towed it back home and dealt with it like a man

after i blew it... i took apart the motor finding out that i had water in the cylinders and i found i cracked my block..

if you guys are wondering what happen to the 99 civic..
i sold the car as is to my cousin w/ no motor.

Now he has a fully built b20vtec built by midnight performance

i was young and foolish and i still am
but its fun and i like working on cars
thats been my hobby since i was a kid
