you get caught, you get a ticket. you have to have it inspected and signed off. its not like they are going to impound your car. well, not just for an intake.

Sure. But I drive on summer tires all year, and my car will never see snow unless I choose to drive to it. It will never rust through unless I apply some kind of corrosive agent to it. It also won't see massive insect hits from living in the land of 10,000 lakes full of bugs and mosquitos.

Everything comes with a price...

You can also get it at trdsparks.com for $230.40 shipped, but they won't pass smog in Cali. They aren't street legal because they haven't passed CARB. The guys are right, you could end up with a fix it ticket and you will have to take it off when you hit your smog only station.

so true. i can bitch all day about the CARB bastards, but it wont change anything. far greater powers have been working on that for far too long for me to get involved.
sure, i wish i could run more aftermarket gear here.
i dont wish i had to plow my driveway in the winter.

In Ca, prolly 90% of owners have to do it every 2 years. If you live in like a rural area, prolly jus during change of ownership.

As for CAI, I live in Irvine,Ca. and everyone has turbo, intake or exhaust so Cops have nothing better to do here than hassle ppl bout it.

My friend and I installed the AEM v2 intake on his acura type S and we took it out for a spin to see how it sonded and got rolled by a cop. Nothing happened, just told my friend to pop open the hood, and he checked that it was CARB cert. and we were on our way. If cops are around, make sure to try to not run your intake in front of them. I have friends with tc's who got pulled over for other violations and got their intake checked and got a ticket for it. So yea, drive safe and slow when cops are around until a carb certi. cai is available in Cali
