Headlight reminder

The owners manual says (page 80) that if the headlight switch is turned on (or off then on in the case of an automatic light cutoff) with the driver's door open, a "buzzer will remind you to turn the lights off".

Mine doesn't work and I just wanted to check with other owners to make sure it was a defect before I take it to the dealer.

Hmm... mine doesn't buzz to remind me. It will automatically turn off the headlights when I open my door. I've done that a few times too.
Ditto.

on my tC.. if i turn off the car and pull the keys out.. then open the door the lights shut off automatically.. i think it will buzz if you leave the keys in and open the door.. try that and see if it buzzzes..

there wouldn't be a point to buzzing if it turns it off automatically.. try leaving the keys in and opening the door.. let us know

same for me. mine just shut off automatically. no buzzing involved. i didn't try leaving the key in, but in that case wouldn't the buzzing be to indicate that your keys are still in the ignition and not that the headlights are on?
Sounds like you have a non-defective tC. Perhaps they'll make an instruction manual TSB or recall.
yeah good point of buzzer that the keys are in.. i'll have to try that tomorrow and see if i can get it to buzz without the keys in and the door open.. i let ya know.. got me curious now

There is a headlight buzzer. As the manual says it will buzz if you turn your headlights after you open driver's door, or do it in any order other than what the manual says is required for the headlight auto-off feature to work.

So far I've tried every imaginable combination of key/switch/door sequence and haven't heard the buzzer once as a headlight reminder (but the buzzer DOES work as a "key in the ignition" reminder).

Sounds like a few others are getting the same results as I am, guess maybe it's not a defect, just an un-implemented feature

yeah, it's definately not just you. as for it being a defect, it probably is but it is not limited to just your car, it is a defect for all tCs. now you can rest easy.

When the key is pulled and the lights are left on, there is no reminder beep or chime in my 2016 TC. Anyone know what to do about this?
