Gas mileage

Filled my scion tC for the very first time. There is a string connecting the gas cap to the car (very convenient). I calculated the mileage to be 20.6 mpg for my first tank of gas. (I don't drive on the highway much)

Floor it much

you won't get the best milage for the first 1k, and it'll keep improving up through 5k.

20.6 is pretty good for the first tank, and mostly city! I remember my Mustang used to get around 14mpg in the city If i was easy on it......argh. - t
That does seem a bit low to me.... I got around 26 mpg my first tank, but I was also granny shifting at around 3k rpm. Are you beating on it? What grade fuel are you using?
I got 28 on my first tank.... 31 since then.
quick question, what method of calculation did you use? - t
Hmm... I roughly calculated my MPG at around 21 MPG too.

Ohh wow! V16? Quad Turbo?
I *never* floor mine, and I make sure it shifts smoothly and around 3-3.5k RPM, and I still got 21.7.
First tank, I guess...should need to refill soon, so will be interested to see if I do better on the second tank...

Refilled today, and got 24 MPG with 90% slow city driving. Good enough for me.
It improves. Started at about 23 and is now up to 27 with 1.2K miles. I drive it hard, but have a fair mix of highway miles as well!

I drive alot on the freeway. I drove around 370 Miles and put in 12.5 gallons. Pretty good and it might even get better then that i hope! lol Sweet car so far.
Yeah, the gas mileage will always be better if you have a fair mix of highway and city driving. For those of us stuck between redlights, stop signs, and old people, our gas mileage will faulter, but its still decent. Take the ups with the downs....
i use regular gas and i didn't think i floored it too much...trying to gently break it in. I calculated my mpg by just dividing the odometer reading by the gallons that i filled my first tank...i'm sure the mpg will get better over time...the car is running great so far.
I still haven't had a chance to calculate my gas mileage accurately cause ppl keep buying me gas... lol

First tank of gas resulted in just over 24mpg (mostly city driving)
