Is anyone else getting scratches very easily? Evertime I turn around, I have another scratch on my brand new car. (TC of course, 5 sp Flint Mica)

I purchased the touch up paint, but am waiting to see if I/ car wash can buff them out.

Is anyone else noticing that they, too are getting scratches way too easy?

Does that protective over spray really help? Should I get it done?

Anyone know how much it would cost to have the entire car painted again? (Flint Mica)

thanks,!!!!

I have the Indigo and it scratches so easy that all you have to do is look at it. For some reason the paint and clearcoat seems like it never really ever got hard. I have had German cars that the clear coat remained a little soft and flexible, by design, but I think there really may be an issue with the paint. I know I want to keep my car nice but I am realistic about it. Car paint will scratch and that is the way it is, but good grief the least little thing will go through the clearcoat on my tc. I keep it waxed too and it seems like it does not help at all. If I had to name one issue on the car that I think needs work....the paint is it. Looks good new not durable at all.
Confused....

so you did or did not purchase the after market clear coat protector?
I definitely agree. My paint seems way too sensitive. I've found scratches under the grooves behind the door handles simply from my fingernails, which I keep relatively short. Pisses me off everytime I find a new scratch

cut your nails shorter

I do...and I'm finding small scratches all over the car in the most random places too
I just found one on my bumper, 5 inches long... so mad... I put some wax over it and buffed the area, hid it pretty well, but it's not a permanent fix. Our paint isnt very durable.
yes!! all kinds of scratches
black cherry pearl driver side door, right front fender

I have the finger scratches too. I also noticed when I had that dent fixed the body sop guy leaned over my hood and the plastic bead on the drawstring on his hoodie made a small scratch. Most of these dome out with scratch remover, even the tame kind
I've had my flint mica since Feb and have yet to notice scratches ....hmmm

Do not have the aftermarket "clear Coat protector" It is just a poly coating that is no better than a good wax job that you do yourself. It's design is to increase dealer profits does not offer anymore paint protection than going to Pep Boys and getting a good wax. Those aftermarket "coatings" have been tested by Consumer reports a million times and offer no added protection. Hundreds of dillars into the dealer's pocket for nothing.

Can anyone recommend specific scratch removers?

I have thought about this long and hard and decided to add my opinion. I love my little black hockey puck. The interior is quality. The radio is great. The alloy wheels are killers, etc. ad nauseum. But guess what, I paid only 16.5K before taxes.

The other two cars at the household ran a minimum of 8K more than my little black hockey puck, and guess what. The paint holds better on them.

The moral of the story is that when you don't pay a whole lot, something is going to be left out/not as good as you want. We got some great little cars here. It is OK to bitch about something we don't like, but let's keep this in perspective.

That's my opinion and I am sticking to it!

And yes, my car has scratches too.

Right, I never said the car should be perfect. However, I don't see a problem with us asking around to check if it's a problem with one or two cars' paint or tC's in general.

Anyway, I'm still wondering; Does anyone know of any scratch remover that works?

electrikiss:
I'm in Arizona, and have had no problems with paint in the heat. My only problem is simply from scratches, which isn't a huge deal. I really wouldn't take it as a huge problem and it really wouldn't keep me from buying a tC.

Second day I had my Scion (had it less than a week now) I woke up and found a bird had crapped on it. So I washed it off and it had ate through the clear coat and left a nice permanent mark in HOURS time!

I bought the paint protection because for $300 all the damage is warrantied for 5 years.

I was MAD to say the LEAST though!

Yep. Paint problems here as well. The day we brought it home from the dealer, we had a nick in the front bumper. Im finding defects in the paint as well. Opened the hatch yesterday while waxing the car, and found the paint on the inside of the hatch pealing off! Its going back to the dealer tomorrow.
Ok guys quit bitchin and call this number:

The # is - 1-877-707-2466 Option #4 - Cporporate Scion/Toyota

call there and let them know, they will most likely get you taken care of.

I have called several times about certain things and everytime they have taken care of me, I have yet to call about the paint but I am going to right now.
I gotta get that bird S#$T of right now......SEE YA!

I took it in today and they removed the damage.

The body shop manager told me he has done TONS of warranty work lately with the Scions because they are in such high demand, that the plastic put on the new cars is actually bonding with the paint because they are not allowing it to dry properly.

He recommended I wait till the end of August to have the paint protection put on to make sure its really dry, that way it will stick better.
