From what I found the Freestyle looks decent.. any technical service bulletins I found weren't that bad, plus already fixed.. Friend of mine is thinking of getting a Freestyle (also wants to check out the rav4, but hope the new one has more room, the old one was too small for him)..

So let me know your thoughts on the Ford Freestyle..

i think it looks like a slow, raised up station wagon. plus its a ford so i would never want one

if he is willing to spend $25k on a car (the base msrp of the freestyle) he should look in to more reliable alternatives such as a toyota highlander or subaru forester
lol ford doesnt know whether to classify that thing as an suv or car. its so weird looking, like a min windstar
thanks for the input.. yeah he's going for a lease, before you tell me about the leases.. Yeah I know but it's what he wants..

I know he's going to look at the new rav4 that's coming out, but he didn't like the ride of the last rav4, he said it was very bouncy..
Having owned Fords on three separate occasions, I've found that the fit and finish is not where it needs to be. On here, we get people complaining about rattles and minor things, but I much prefer that to what you get on a Ford. If I were to look at buying a domestic, I'd be sticking with GM.
^^^ Ask zoltiz about his brand-new rental Fusion. Nice enough car, but it threw a CEL with 15 miles on it for no apparent reason.
LMAO
Your friend should wait for the new Rav4s comming out. the v6s are going to have 269hp and similar tq numbers.
Will they suck like all previous Rav4s?

BTW, why did you trade your '05 tC for an '02 Celica?
There's a ford recall out for all 2005 models... including the freestar.

didnt trade it. long story about the tC
, but the celica has always been around, so i took some leftover cash and modified it abit. its becoming a showcar.

UPDATE: Well after my friend was reading Consumer Reports and how they said the freestyle fish-tailed during their emergency manuevers.. And the ford escape/mazda tribute tipped up one wheel also during the same moves.. He has given up on the Fords..

He is waiting for the new RAV4 to hit the dealerships and then he can see if it's a good fit.. He's looking for fuel economy so he'll probably go with the 4 cyl.. It's the same engine as the tC just a little more tweaked, should be pretty decent.

So yeah you're right he is waiting!
Ford already has stated that they will kill production after 2006, so that should tell you how good it is, to be killed in 2 years. It's just another crossover vehicle based on a fwd car.

That sucks about the tC, but at least you had the Celica to fall back on!

Bingo. It's a Ford. i wouldn't be caught dead in an American Car.
UPDATE: Well my friend ended up getting a new 2006 Rav4.. i rode in it already and the ride is much improved from the previous generation! Sporty but smooth, I was impressed. So no he didn't get a ford.. so you can all relax

Collective sigh of relief.

Good choice, on your friend's part. We're thinking about the '06 Rav4 or keeping our '98 model. If I were the one driving it, I'd go with the new one just for the added horsepower. Ours has been very reliable, and I'm sure your friend will enjoy it.
