Floor mats in colors

3940 Views 27 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  joshmoney
i heard from a dealer when i first went to look at the tc that the floor mats will be avaliable in colors soon. the rug part of the front mats can detach from the rubber part so i think you will be able to buy new rug colors. anyone know anything about this or when they will be avaliable?

Regardless of the colors, it would be nice to be able to replace the carpet w/out having to replace the whole mat... That's why I was reluctant to get them, but little did I know, I had no choice

I am glad I got them though - one less thing to worry about!

i know what you mean Eric. it is a pretty nice set up. if they have color ones for the back seats though, they will have to be whole new mats because they are just all rug.
Of course, it could just be that the dealer was just full of it. Damon excluded of course, some dealers just make stuff up to reel you in or make it seem like they know a lot...

i don't know if this is just me....but my floor mats are falling aprat....the carpet is just pulling off the rug(make any sense)....

Perhaps the carpet is pulling off the rubber part - I don't know how carpet pulls off the rug though...

if you are talking about the front floor mats. they are supposed to come apart around the sides. when you pull off the hard plastic tab on the bottom part, then you can pull out the carpet and just have a rubber floor mats. To put them back in, you will need to tuck them in around the sides of the rubber mat then snap the tab back on.
these are all season floormats, just the way they are made.
although this doesnt apply to the rear seat floormats.

Personally i like these floor mats bc i can remove the carpet for the winter and hose off the rubber mat in the spring and then tuck the carpet back in

saves me from having to replace the stinky white stained (from salts we use on roads) mats winter after winter!

Yeah... our floormats rock.
It would be nice to see some colors in the rug part... a little change sometimes is kinda fun.

If you mean that the rug is getting big lint balls all over it I believe that is normal (my mats should be here tomorrow). But think about this, if you ever bought a new rug for your home, the first few days of walking on it you'll see tons of carpet lint. Dunno if that's what you meant but that's what I gathered from it.
no...it's not doing what it's supposed to do. hmm....ah that's the word... it's fraying.

edit: there are also big lint balls....but the lint is from one spot only...and white is showing through...
Color mats... as long as it were dark I would get them. Obviously because they will get dirty.

do you wear rough-sole shoes or something? Sounds like your twisting the fibers to much, or the mats are just defective! -t

i noticed mine to shred a little..........but, nothing major. If the carpet is comming out in clumps, i think thats an issue?! Either way im not to worried about it! - t
yeah...i think i'm goin to the dealer today...it's kinda pissing me off (note i'm kinda anal)
it sounds like a defective set if it is falling apart. i'd show the dealer and ask for a new set. i didn't know that floor mats could be defective. very interesting
i had my mats when i got the car and the first thing i did was change the color of the carpets.. i took them to this upholstery place out in town and they only charged me 50 bucks. i took out the original carpet and gave them the carpet that way they can cut it the exact same way. now i have NEON GREEN carpet on the inside. I'll post pics whenever i figure out how. it is so frustrating!!
wow neon green? thats uhh very BAM, neawyZ what ever floats your boat, tell us if its getting dirty easy, cuz i would consider green a lighter color
interesting. i didn't know you could do that. i really want to see pics....
