Has anybody else noticed that the flint mica sparkles are colorful in sunlight? How does that happen?

i think that is the "pearl" coat they put in the paint. they mix the paint up somehow and add sparkles in it.. i'm not really sure on the exact technical details, but it's something they put in the paint lol

probably kinda like a prism... light has all colors & the sparkles are probably just breaking them up into their individual colors depending on the angle of the metalic flake... or I could be full of it

The Indigo ink pearl also has the flicks and it sparkles in the sun. I love it. It's the best color. Don't you agree Eric?
Don't they all have a sparkle?
No. The Black Cherry, Silver, and Black (which I have seen in person) do not. I didn't see any in the Indigo Ink Pearl color either, for that matter.

No... the black sand pearl also has the sparkles. It has a lot of blue sparkle like the flint mica. Thats what makes the black look more like a dark charcoal than a true black.

alright.... Metal flake makes the car sparkle. THEY mix it into the paint b4 application.
you will notice the flake in
black
flint
black cherry
asure
indigo

sliver streak might have it but I cant see it
super white does not have any.

my .02
Super white does have pearl, just not as big of a flake. Trust me, look at in under Fluorescent lighting and it comes out. The pearl is usually applied after the base coat... typically mixed in with the clear coat. Its what give the car its sparkle and its deep shine!
I like the flakes in the Flint Mica, they give off a metallic look.
Does anyone know if the TC Flint Mica is the same as the Lexus flint mica? I really want to see this flint mica everyone is raving about. I'm generally underwhelmed by dark gray or silver cars, but from the way people talk about it, this isn't just your ordinary dark gray. I haven't seen the flint mica in person, and I'm having difficulty committing to a color without seeing them all. If it's the same as the Lexis flint mica, I'll keep my eye out for it on the small Lexus SUV--there are a zillion of those around here, and I've yet to see a single TC. I also saw a black cherry XB today, so now I'm even more confused, because the color looked really neat--much darker than it looks in any of the pictures--I wish I could find a dealer that had all of the colors in a row.

It's got a lot of the metalic flake, maybe second to the flint mica, but it doesn't show the same range of colors... I don't like to say something is the best, but it's my favorite

The sales director at my local dealership told me that it's the same FM as the RAV4.

It happens the same way diamonds, crystal, quartz, etc., sparkle in the sunlight. The light reflects off the facets in the object, producing a prismatic effect. I think someone already basically said that, though.
Talking about paint... has anyone looked really carefully on their paint... cause I think I found some flaws in mine. Not sure... but I tried to wash it out this weekend and its still there. It seems to be on the clearcoat... small bubbles in certain places of the hood and side panel. Anyone else seen anything? You have to look really close and under certain angles, otherwise you can't really see it.
Yeah I thought I wanted the black cherry till i went to test drive a car and all they had was flint i fell in love and drove it home that day!!! the paint is very demensional and deep with a fresh coat of wax this paint rocks in the sun!!!!!!! or the street lights...
mmmm...Flint Mica is beautiful! But...did any1 see the color when it 1st came out....I was looking at a tC in Louisville in June....and the flakes looked larger....any1 else C this?
