RimsThank you Ny for posting the pix for me. Yes this just happened on Christmas Eve. I was driving in the left lane and a cab driving on my right side tried to shoot out in front of me to make a left turn and slammed into my car. It is going to cost 4646.92 to fix. The freakin cab tried to do the dip on me and take off. a guy driving behind me had to act like police and cut him off and block him in so he wouldnt leave. Then when the cops get there, I was already in the hospital, the cab driver tells them that I was driving behind him and hit him from the back, cause he has a previous hit there. THEN the insurance wants to tell me I dont have full coverage (only liability) and I am going to have to pay for everything. I had to send them a bill of sale so they can see it was brand new. And all brand new cars must have full coverage. Its been the worst christmas EVER. Thank god I didnt have my new rims on it, I would have died. There 20 inch chrome caroza's .

That sucks, man. I hope everything works out okay for you. It's a good thing that there was a concerned citizen nearby to keep the jerk from leaving the scene and support your story.

I live on tremont in the bronx and i have progressive. I already got the rims, imma throw them on when the snow goes away, leave' em nice and crisp for the summer. The only gift i got for christmas was the blessing to have those people support my story and for that matter even stop let alone cut the dude off for me, trust me im so thankful for that.

from where the impact looks like it took place, probably not... if it had messed up the front of the bumper and not the side, it probably would have deployed

There is an exception to this, that I hope you don't fall in. If you paid for your car in one shot (you own it, and are not financing it), you do not have to have collision insurrance. It's then optional. But most people don't actually own their cars and just finance them, thus they must have collision. How would you not know whether you have collision insurance? If it costs 1/3 what it should, then you have liability only.
