I just received my new 06 tc. I have the trd exhaust and I want to install some modifications mostly minor things that won't void the engine warranty. I was thinking new air filter does anyone have any suggestions to get some extra juice outta my ride?

Without voiding warranty? Supercharger.
Or simple, an intake.
Why spend 10% of the money a supercharger costs to put on an intake with questionable gains that is not smog legal? If the guy is in California, there is only one legal power adder: supercharger.

I know the supercharger is the way to go. I have one. But he asked for something minor to add a few extra HP that wont void the warranty.

He didnt say anything about smog legal or spending 4 grand.

So I pretty much stick to get a nice intake if you dont want to have problems with a warranty and are just looking for something minor.
Do you want something loud that will not improve your car's performance (e.g., intake) or something that will actually improve performance? If it's the second one, you won't have much success without spending the big bucks.

One manufacturer sold intakes with metal shavings in them and ruined one owner's engine. The intake manufacturer did not warranty the engine against consequential damages, and Toyota did not warranty the engine because the aftermarket intake had metal shavings in it. I've seen one of these intakes and seen the metal shavings.

Intakes make a lot more noise, but if you read the results from owners on this board, on Scionlife, and others, you'll find intakes on the tC are not any kind of guaranteed performance enhancement. Indeed some of the ystc members found their cars to be SLOWER with the intake than without. Some have had issues with CELs, some have had issues with damaging the MAF.

All in all, an intake is a mixed bag at the very best. I would not recommend one to most owners, and I am far from convinced an intake alone makes a faster car.
